I am making epic spells and background for a character in a high level campaign, and have been capped at 40HD for any particular undead minion. My question is, what build would you make for a level 40 character with the vampire template? Or the Ghost? And which do you feel is better?

Some off the top of my head (probably not as good as they seem)

A ghost human wizard 12/loremaster 10/archmage 5/rogue 3/arcane trickster 10. (lots of spells)
A human vampire factotum 20/wizard 5/knight phantom 10/Archmage 5 (can do just about anything and has a nice complement of spells too)
Human ghost wizard 5/mindbender 1/ur-priest 3/bard 1/sublime chord 1/mystic theurge 10/rogue 2/loremaster 4/fochlucan lyrist 10/Ultimate Magus 3 (TONS of spells and your caster level is uniform across all classes.)
Feytouched Vampire druid 40 (I like the thought of this)
Anthropomorphic Giant Squid Vampire Rogue/Shadowdancer/Soul Eater/Dervish (shadow jump in, 1000 cuts with your energy draining tentacles, get out. Thou art Cthuhlu)
Changeling Werewolf Vampire Warlock (my silly little tribute to the World of Darkness)
Human Ghost factotum 1/psion 3 /wizard 3/archivist 3/cerebremancer 10/mystic theurge 10/psychic theurge 10 (probably not that powerful, really)
Human Vampire Factotum 20/Chameleon 10/Wizard 10

All multi-classed factotums take Able Learner at level 1, and any Practiced Spellcaster feats as needed.

Where can I find the factotum?

Also, I missed this at first... Anthropomorphic giant squid? what?

There is an anthropomorphic animal template in the book savage species.

All of those builds lack CL. They will die very, very quickly.

I'd suggest melee classes, since the templates have nice benefits for them, like incorporeality and Strength bonuses.

Right now Im working on a specific powerhouse build because there will only be two players at the next session, including myself. Let me know if this works:

Warblade 5
Master thrower 5
Bloodstorm Blade? (not sure if I have the name right) 10
Hulking Hurler 1
Sorcerer 1
Dragon Disciple 8
Warhulk 10

Combo: Might or might not work, let me know which are compatible

Distant Shot epic feat
Bloodstorm capstone ability to attack each opponent in range
Master Thrower Weak Spot ability, for touch attacks
Power throw feat (to make up for the lack of STR damage from Weak Spot)
Warhulk's ability to attack 3 squares beyond the target with each attack

Finally, the way I pull off having enough heavy objects to toss about is a pair of gloves of major creation (not sure what the price should be since 90K is what I arrived at by the formula and it seems low). Any suggestions for improvements/flaws Ive missed/pricing suggestions?

Dragon Disciple won't do anything for you. Take some more Warblade levels instead. And remember that you have to be Large size to qualify for Warhulk.
