| Soulless_Enigma07-02-07, 12:33 PM | A worm that walks consists of a ridiculous number of heads due to the number of vermin, however by RAW an illithid could use extract on it. What do you think about this? How is it possible to extract the brain of about 2-300 vermin at once or do they count as "multi headed"? |
| Enoch Van Garret07-02-07, 12:45 PM | By RAW, an Illithid could extract the brain of one worm at a time, but the death of a single worm wouldn't inconvenience the WtW much. In games where common sense comes into play, however, a single worm is clearly far too small to have its brain extracted by tentacles more than 10-20 times its entire body size - especially when you consider that an earthworm's brain is roughly the size of a grain of sand and an earthworm can regrow severed heads (and thus extracted brains) without perishing due to a redundant nervous system. However, all of the above cases reference the illithid trying to attack a single component worm as an individual creature. If you're talking about an illithid attempting to extract the brain from a WtW as a whole, the WtW is clearly immune, as it has no brain to extract at this juncture. |

| Kihon07-02-07, 02:24 PM | Are not most Worms that Walk very high level magic casters? What's a WtW even allowing a mind flayer to get close to it in the first place? The WtW is an Epic Mob, which should easily kill any mind flayer it encounters (imo). |

Creating A Worm That Walks Type The character’s type changes to aberration (it is a creature composed of hundreds of discrete crawling worms). Damn. I guess we're both off. Still... Immunities (Ex) A worm that walks has no discernable anatomy, so it is not subject to critical hits or flanking. And while this doesn't specifically exclude a Mind Flayer extraction, the power does note that "it is not instantly fatal to foes with multiple heads." I'd rule it does a single point of damage and move on with the combat. |
| Soulless_Enigma07-03-07, 04:26 PM | Thanks for the answers. I only need to know 'cause my ulitharid sorcerer is taking on a WtW BBEG tommorow in a campaign finale. After checking the WtW template's engulf attack, I think my best bet is to stay as far away as possible and cast whatever I can at it. |

The entirety of their nervous system is a simple 'net' of cells that are all similar and serve the same function -- movement and reflex. This net of cells runs throughout their bodies, which is why you can cut a worm in half to make two living worms rather than one dead worm. |
