How do you go about making armour without an Arcane Spell Failure Chance? I'm sure you can do it, but I don't have the books on me to check.

Mithral.

Also, that one special ability. I want to say "Twilight," but I don't think that's it.

Both reduce ASF.

It is indeed Twilight, and it's in the Book of Exalted Deeds, but it only reduces spell failure chance by 10%.

Did Mithral reduce it by 10% or 15%? Because that's 20%-25% gone right there, which is pretty durn good.

I point you to the Char Ops board: Optimizing Armor for Minimum ASF

Ook. That thread never really got off the ground; I imagine there are a good many other ways as well.

The aforementioned Twilight enhancement also is mentioned in the PHB 2. I say this since many get concerned by material from the BoED and the BoVD; being reprinted implies the company has a certain degree of faith in the fairness. (Though for the record, why it appeared when describing the Duskblade, who ignores most ASF, is beyond me.)

It approaches the problem from a different angle, but a fair number of prestige classes allow characters to avoid arcane spell failure. The Spell Sword (CWar) is the most common, and a one level dip is a great pickup for anyone willing to spend the the requisite Fighter/Paladin/what-have-you level to get in. The Suel Arcanamach (CArc) can ignore some as well, though looking at it, the class appears to pretty much suck. :( The last one I can think off off the top of my head is the Arcane Heirophant (Races of the Wild), which allows a character to ignore all ASF... as long as it's Druid-compliant armor.

May I also point out the the Warlock can avoid ASF from Light Armor, though only for his invocations.

The WarMage also gets to ignore ASF to a small degree, 1 level will allow you to Ignore Light Armor ASF, while 8 will alow you to ignore it for medium as well.

The only way I would know how to have no ASF is by having a level 8+ Warmage with BAttle Caster a Feat in the Carc sourcebook that allows a user to take no ASF for one armour class higher then usual which will be good for Sorc and Wiz.

Tesselated Twilight armor has its ASF% reduced by 30%. Thistledown I believe should take care of the rest. Full plate with no ASF%:

Thistledown is in Races of the Wild. Tesselated isn't technically a special ability, but a specific armor. It's in A&EG. And it rocks, so hard.

its pretty expensive but....

Bracers of Armor +8
Gloves of DEX +6
Ring of protection +5
Amulet Of Natural Armor +5
+5 Animated Mithril Light Shield (+6 total shield bonus)

so if ur character has a Dex of 21 without the gloves your dex is boosted to 27 with the gloves which has a +8 bonus.

10+8+8+5+5+6= 40 AC

40 AC with zero ASF and 0 ACP

Based simply on what's here and for those that have trouble following along this setup only provides +27 and with the base 10 you'd be at 37, the 40 is assuming you already have a +3 Modifier for Dex.(My friend couldn't quite follow where the 40 came from so I'm breaking it down)

Also in my experience Animated/Dancing Sheilds are often forbidden in campaigns, it may just be the people I play under but you may want to check with your DM just in case.
