Ummmm.....

The Bone Dagger

Made from the tooth of a black dracolich, this dagger seeps with evil. When all is quiet, near silent screams and moans can be heard eminating from the dagger. Minute, nearly featureless faces can be seen swimming over the blades surface.
(I'll give more fluff later.)

+4 Silencing Strike Dagger (Silencing Strike is from a Dragon Magazine. Silences for like 3 (?) rounds, concecutive hits reset silence.)
Contagion 5/day
Invisibility at will
Darkness at will

Anyone killed with the blade through sneak attack, sudden strike, (or similar abililty), or is the victim of a coup de grace, critical, or death attack, is turned into a wraith under the Bone Dagger's holder. The holder can control up to his level in wraiths, and after this limit is reached, no more wraiths will appear from a killed victim.

The Heart of Rammues

This originally appears as nothing more then a loose collection of various stones and dirt held together by a thick tangle of vines. When held it takes the rough shape of a heart, through about the size of a large dog, and begins to pulsant warmly. It always seems to pull it's holder slightly in a specific direction.

The Heart of Rammues is what it's name implies, the heart of one of the world's elemental avatars: Rammues, Avatar of the Earth. Legend says he removed the heart from his own chest after his love, the avatar of fire, was slain so that he could escape the pain of his loss. While Rammues may have disappeared, his heart remains to grant a fraction of his power to the worthy.

The bearer of the Heart of Rammues must be Neutral Good in order to have any access to it power, those who are not of the Neutral Good alignment find that the Heart is impossibly heavy and requires a DC 60 Strength Check to lift and offer no power even if they can lift it.

A bearer of the proper alignment gains the following benefits:

They no longer need to eat, drink, or breath.
They gain use of the Animal Empathy ability with an effective druid level of half their character level.
They gain stabilty as a dwarf when in contact with a natural surface.
A burrow speed of 30 feet.
They gain the Earth Subtype. If any person bears the heart for more then a month they become native outsiders and gain the Earth subtype permentally.

Additional the Heart of Rammues grants the use of the following Spells:
Verdigris Tsunami, Intensifed - 1/Week
Elemental Swarm, Maximized -1/day
Master Earth -1/day
Undermaster - 1/day
Animate Plants - 3/day
Earth Quake - 3/day
Liveoak - 3/day
Plant Body - 3/day
Forestfold - 5/day
Wrack Earth - 5/day
Move Earth - At will
Stone Tell - At will

All spells are at effective caster level 40

Essence of the Efreeti King

This blood red jewel and bronze chain seem to pulse and glow with an inner fire.

The wearer of this amulet gains the [Fire] subtype and all its benefits/weaknesses and immunity to all mind affecting abilities and effects. Furthermore, he becomes large sized (even if he is normally bigger, apply size changes to attributes as normal), his skin becomes bright red and very tough, giving him a natural armor bonus of +7 or increasing his natural armor bonus to +7 (if his natural armor bonus is normally higher, it is reduced to +7 while the amulet is worn), his hair becomes char black, and his finger nails the color of bronze; and giving him a +6 enhancement bonus to Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence. This appearance change is natural, except as noted below. The amulet also grants its wearer several spell-like abilities: At will- pyrotechnics, produce flame, scorching ray, flaming sphere, levitate, mage armor, detect magic, protection from good; 3/day- fireball, wall of fire, protection from energy (cold), Flamestrike; 1/day- Delayed Blast Fireball, Meteor Swarm, Summon Monster IX (fire creatures only), Wish (the amulet pays 5,000xp, the wearer must supply the rest). The caster level for these abilities is 25th.

All evil genies perceive the wearer as a Noble Efreet, and assume that he is their superior and that it is their duty to try to undermine, subvert, and steal from him as much as possible without getting caught (this usually means stealing this amulet). If an evil genie steals the amulet and possess it for longer than 1 round, the jewel immediately vanishes in a puff of green smoke, taking with it all memories that either the genie or the character possessed such an item at all (not mind affecting). All neutral and good aligned genies perceive the wearer as he normally would look without the amulet, but will greatly desire to barter or bargain for the amulet without knowing why they want it so badly. If a neutral or good genie possesses the amulet for longer than 1 round the genie disappears along with the amulet in a puff of green smoke, removing all trace of memory that the character even possessed the amulet at all (though what ever the genie just used to bargain with will obviously still be in the character's possession).

Also, most creatures that succeed on a Knowledge (the planes) skill check at DC 22 recognize the wearer as a Noble Efreet (except for neutral and good genies). This could very well lead to many uncomfortable encounters for the wearer.

The amulet cannot be removed unless a neutral or good genie has bargained for it or it was stolen by an evil genie.

OK, I’ll take a stab at this with an updated version of an artifact that I created for 2e.

Mystra’s Blood.
Type: Major Artifact

This +5 /+5 quarter staff is forged from a single perfect quartz crystal 6 ft in length. A hollow runs down the center of the Staff that is filled with blood that always appears to be moving. According to legend this is the blood of the original Mystra spilled from her body in the battle that allowed her ascension to godhood. The blood was collected by her chief apprentice thinking that it might hold some power now that she was a god. To his great surprise the spilled blood remained fresh and warm for the remainder of his life, he was never able to find a way to utilize the blood in a construct. The blood was passed on to his son but lost in the wizard wars that followed. It was more then 1000 years latter that the blood was rediscovered in the hoard of a powerful Black Dragon. The Wizard that defeated the dragon was named Del'ashi a human well beyond his 500th year of life and powerful beyond imagination. With aa that power still it took him nearly a century to determine what the blood was, though he knew right away it was powerful. It was another full century before he could craft this staff, the legends also say that Del'ashi used the staff to ascend to godhood, taking on the name of Azuth the lord of spells.

As to whether or not any of this is true will never be known, what is known is that Mystra’s Blood has several powers. The owner of Mystra’s Blood casts all his arcane spells as caster of 3 levels higher, this does not increase the level of spells the caster has access to or his number of spells known. Further more the owner of this staff functions as if under the affect of a ring of wizardry 1st-9th. When wielded the staff grants additional abilities, the wielder is under the affect of a globe of invulnerability spell, all arcane spells he casts are affected by the still spell and silent spell metamagic feats, and his arcane spells require no material components or focuses to use. Additionally the staff can store up to 50 levels of spells at any time storing a spell in the staff take 10 min per level of the spell. Any spell stored in the staff acquires the Quicken Spell and Maximize Spell feats with out increasing their spell level.

The Edge of Souls
Type: Major Atrifact

This evil blade was forged eons ago by dark wizard whose name remains a mystery. Through careful study of his notes on the process, which survived in his spell book, the horror that went into its creation is revealed. The edge of souls was forged from the living souls of 100 truly good adventurers (i.e. 100 PC classes with at least 1 exulted feat) trough the ritual torture and sacrifice their souls were trapped in 100 rubies worth at least 1000 GP each. At the end of the ritual one ounce of blood is collected in a crystal vial, drawn from the sacrificed victim’s heart. The actual forging of the blade took place during the new moon at night on the winter solstice; the 100 gems were placed in bloodstone block that had a carved recess in the shape of the blade and tang of a sword. During the long night of the winter solstice the wizard slowly pored the heart blood over the gems and recited his unholy incantation, after 12 full hours of chanting the last vile was added as the sun sent its first rays of light above the horizon. According to the wizards notes a ripple of absolute darkness rolled off the sword with the last added vile and when his sight returned the blade of the sword was complete. The blade was set in a dark wood handle and fit with a hand guard and pommel carved from the blood stone block that had been its cradle.

The Edge of Souls has a sinister appearance the blade is of the deepest black and ghostly gray lines flow across it like smoke. If watched closely these smoky lines coalesce into the screaming images of the victims used to create the blade. The bloodstone that makes up pommel and hand guard was changed by the ritual it is now the color of dried blood with brighter flecks the color of fresh blood. The darkwood handle is wrapped in 100 leather strands made from the hearts of the sacrifices.

The Edge of Souls is a +5 unholy vorpal wounding bastard sword, in addition it is a force of unredeemable evil. In the hands an evil aligned character the sword grants DR 15/ good and magic, SR 15 + hit dice of its owner against all but good aligned spells. Also when the vorpal aspect of the sword triggers the sword can once per day absorb the soul of the decapitated target. The sword can store up to 10 souls at a time using them to fuel its dark powers. The as a swift action the wielder can use one stored soul to cast each of the following spells at a caster level of 20: Heal on self, Persistent Greater Mage Armor, Power Word Kill, Evascular mass, Greater Bestow Curse. In addition the wielder always knows the hit point totals of all creatures within 60 ft.

Any Good aligned person holding The Edge of Souls take 4 negative levels, these levels can not be removed as long as the weapon is held. Should a good aligned person who activates the vorpal ability of the weapon must make a DC 30 will save or have its soul consumed by the weapon. Any creature that has had its soul taken by the weapon can only be revived with a wish or miracle spell.

Hauseroole Balsa Rod of Godmodmanship:
This seemingly weak and mundane 2 foot soft wooden rod, scratched, aged and battered, has been blessed by a power far greater even than the gods. It has the ability to change anything it sees fit to change with no limitations, infact it's safe to assume that much has been changed by it already but such is it's immense power that there are no records of anything that was before the rod changed it to be as it is now.

The Hauseroole Balsa Rod of Godmodmanship's powers are far beyond what any Wish spell could accomplish, it can raise entire cities and it's population from millennia of extinction, create entire intelligent races by a mere thought and destroy multiverses on a whim. Some fear that to not treat it with the respect it deserves is as good as begging it to end all existence - which it assuredly can do - so few are willing enough to let their minds do more than touch on slight thoughts of it.

If wielded in the hands of any hero who by miracle comes to possess it, it is the most powerful weapon in all existence, beyond immortal comprehension. Lacking the omnipotent foresight and wisdom of the Rod's creator and intended wielder, a misguided adventurer could turn all dirt, earth and soil into water - and even subconsciously alter everything as we know it to have already adapted - or perhaps turn all air into molten flame. When wielded as a wand or a mace, the Rod does no physical or magical damage, instead the target of the attack simply dies, forever scorched out of existence beyond any magic's power to bring back, from the most powerful necromancy to the divine powers of all the Gods working in unison. The only thing that can bring back the victim of the Rod is the Rod itself. This is rumoured to be why Gnomes exist to this day, for there is no other reason.

The last known sighting of the Hauseroole Balsa Rod of Godmodmanship was approximately 28,000 years ago, when a less than intelligent man had the astonishing foresight to use the Rod to make his diary immortal. It documented how the Rod was used to experiment on a race of Halflings, who were given the ability to resist a vast evil force and destroy it's heart in the forge from which it was born. This gives extra credence to the Gnome theory.

I created this cursed item for the 1001 wacky cursed items thread, but upon careful examination, I decided that it really wasn't wacky at all, and figured that this would be a good place to post it. If there's something that needs correcting in the rules, please let me know. And now, without further ado:

Belt of the Full Moon

This grey belt is made out of wolfskin and has a large circular buckle. When the belt is put on, it cannot be removed unless a Wish spell is cast and the belt is cut off with a silver blade (Any slashing weapon made of alchemical silver will suffice or a weapon coated with silversheen). The wearer begins to have dark dreams of running through the woods, of the hunt, and of the moon. These dreams become more and more frequent until the next full moon, at which point the character becomes a limited form of werewolf, with no saving throw. The character is unable to assume a hybrid form and can only switch between humanoid and wolf form. The transformation is always involuntary, with the character turning into a wolf with the full moon and returning to humanoid form with the dawn and remaining in humanoid form until the next full moon. The character is unable to retain his or her personality while in wolf form, becoming a savage, feral hunter. Any wounds sustained while in wolf form are still present upon returning to humanoid form. The traditional werewolf weaknesses only apply while in wolf form, and in humanoid form they recieve no special bonuses.

(I tried to create this to follow the traditional werewolf legend as closely as possible, though there were other methods of recieving the curse, usually from drinking from a cursed stream or spring or from dealing with fiends. The idea of lycanthropy as a disease transferable by biting is a modern invention of werewolf fiction, as is the notion of a hybrid form of werewolf. If anyone has anything that I missed, please let me know. Thank you.)

im working on an UNFINISHED artifact... but its really crazy. Its the Rod of Chaos that my PCs will recieve once they kill this demi-chaos diety thing. Its CR 25 so its a pretty good artifact. Basicly its 100 RANDOM things when activated (kinda like an expanded rod of wonder)
so far the best ability is chaos bolt (1-100 damage, random damage type)
or the one where everyone gets canes and top hats... that ones cool too...
