[please correct me if I'm talking about the wrong Rod]

this rod lets you and a large group of friends live comfortably for a small amount of time. suppose you could fit 1000 people in there for an hour...

and in that hour, A powerful Catapult happens to throw it inside of a well forticated Castle or other fortifaction.

and those 1000 people "happen" to be well armored Half-Ogres or Trolls...

Made me laugh though.

Though alcemical, not magical, no one ever wants Alchemist's Fire...untill they are surprised by trolls.

When the rod’s effect expires or is dispelled, all the affected creatures instantly reappear in the location they occupied when the rod was activated.
