| Dalthbar06-30-06, 03:02 PM | This is for stuff like the arms and equipment guide. Have fun. Umm... why not just read the arms & equipment guide instead of starting a pointless thread? |
| shruggar06-30-06, 03:07 PM | should I.. what? List out what's on my desk? Mundane is mundane, that's why we play ;) (at least give us something to get started with, to set the tone..) |
| stargate52507-06-06, 07:48 PM | Umm... why not just read the arms & equipment guide instead of starting a pointless thread? Because the AEG isn't balanced for 3.5e, that's why. 1. Pernock's Light Rations. 1/5 the weight of normal trail rations, twice the price, and require hot water to prepare. (think raman noodles) 2. Gnome Knight Knife. Combination lockpick, fork, spoon, knife, skewer, tindertwig (replaceable), sunstick (think penlight in size), pen, mathematical compass, ruler, and navigational compass. 40gp. 3. Prismatic Ink. Shifts colors randomly until special inkstones, no larger than pebbles, are touched to it, at which point the ink takes on the inkstone's color. 1 vial ink 12gp, inkstone 1gp. Things like that? |
| KirkBb07-06-06, 07:55 PM | The AEG is balanced for 3.5 until it is reprinted or errata has been made for it. |
| CryoSilver07-06-06, 07:58 PM | Actually, I felt most of the stuff in it was grossly overpriced. |
| antsterr07-06-06, 08:07 PM | 4) Flavio's Hellfire Hurler is a crossbow like device with a special built basket for heaving molotov's at light crossbow ranges. what makes it special is that it's built to resist fire. It can shoot most any grapefruit or smaller sized object doing 1d6 damage if the heaved object is solid. special built spherical molotovs or alchemists fire can be purchased for it, you can also purchase acid globes that can fit in it. any non-spherical objects give a -4 to and hit half the range. Simple Weapon Range increment 80ft 1D6 damage with a solid object or damage as alchemist fire or acid. Crit 19-20 x2 weight 8lbs Bludgeoning, fire or acid damage. |
| stargate52507-06-06, 08:14 PM | The AEG is balanced for 3.5 until it is reprinted or errata has been made for it. and this little peice of information concerning backwards compatibility is where exactly? |
| ziggy_killroy07-07-06, 03:06 AM | Clover's Glowing Bolts: Developed by an adventurer after an attempt to launch a sunrod out of a cross bow ended up sending the sun-stick back in his face. These bolts are tiped with blunt, golden heads which have been saturated with the same phosphorensant compound as a sunrod. When struck, they provide clear illumination out to 20ft, and shadowy illumination out to 40ft. Since the heads are rather blunt, they deal damage as if the crossbow was a size catagory smaller. Price: 2gp Weight: 10 weigh 1lb. Clovers Glowing Arrows: These arrow's are tiped with blunt, golden heads which have been saturated with the same phosphorensant compound as a sunrod. | The WarOverlord07-07-06, 08:05 AM | Umm... why not just read the arms & equipment guide instead of starting a pointless thread? Thinks mean Mundane Equipment postings of own design to be a Online Guide version much like the Book foremention Example: Multishot Spring loaded Cross Bow: This Weapong is a light crossbow that uses a spring loaded cartrige that feeds bows into the rest area of the rack and the catrige holds 12 bolts (larger size cartriges pump fed belt feeders cartriges, and pump kick attachments are also availible) Another unusual aspect of this weapon is that a pumping mechanizing just under the rack and in front of the trigger and bolt magazine activates a set of pullies and dollies that pull the string back over and behind the bolt then tension it to "full pull" with just a casual pumping motion (thing Pump rifle). The benifit of this weapon is that all 12 bolts can be loaded and fired within 1 round and is a favorite especially with Deathslayers that may be using all 12 bolts to stop a charging vampire If more firepower is needed for stopping a Vampire then the pump belt feeder cartrige, and pump kick attachment might be a neccessary upgrade as these devices allow belts of bolts (rather then cartriges) to be fed into the bolt launch position and the string to be pulled by the kinetic energy of the string and pulley system after the first pump (basically a a semi-automatic/Automatic bolt launcher) as long as trigger doesn't stop the kinetic recoil. It is also posible to shorten the puley/dolly timing which reduces the effective range of the weapon but makes the "machine crossbow" fire as fast as a machine gun as appose to a gatling gun and making the target vampire look like a pin cushion in 1 second flat...lol |
| Dalthbar07-07-06, 09:16 AM | Example: Multishot Spring loaded Cross Bow: I hope this was a joke - it's so horribly broken and so unbelievably far from "mundane". |
| LittleCarp0407-07-06, 05:41 PM | lol now all my chars are going to use a multishot spring loaded crossbow... |
| stargate52507-07-06, 06:31 PM | The benifit of this weapon is that all 12 bolts can be loaded and fired within 1 round That's two rounds a second, more than some semi-automatic weapons. I agree with Dalthbar, this is so broken it's not even funny. |
| Whisper_Swiftblade07-08-06, 01:09 AM | and this little peice of information concerning backwards compatibility is where exactly? I think they anounced that all 3.0 products where still compatible for 3.5 until a replacement is made. |
| Pz.Az.04Maus07-08-06, 02:32 AM | That's two rounds a second, more than some semi-automatic weapons. I agree with Dalthbar, this is so broken it's not even funny. I tend to believe that usually people who sound like they know what they are doing, are well-met in the community, and don't look like quacks are usually right, but DAYAMN... 12 bolts a round, assuming medium and similar to repeating crossbow (Heavy, I guess)... 12d8 shots. 54 damage, average, a round, just from a basic Crossbow. Got Meds? Also, the description looked good, but still, 12 shots a round is ungodly, even though I like weapons dealing a good sized amount of damage; that, along with the belt fed option, sounds like a Baaaadddd idea. You'd be basically saying, that with enough bolts, a character could do an infinite amount of damage, only hindered by the amount of ammo you have. You'd have to put a bunch of max things on it or something, I'd think. In other words, Needs a bit of work. |
| BinaryProphet07-09-06, 03:50 PM | Eh, as I haven't seen an updated Saber since the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting I thought I'd make one. Martial Weapon Cost Dmg(S) Dmg(M) Critical Range Increment LB Type One-Handed Saber 15 GP 1d4 1d6 19-20/x2 - 3 S or P Saber - This is a curved weapon, similar to a scimitar but with a less curved tip allowing for more thrusting capability. The sword is primarily designed for cavalry use. This weapon can be used with Weapon Finesse. This weapon may not be used two-handed. Notes: I realize this makes the short sword rather obsolete except for two-weapon fighting, but I don't know why it's a martial weapon anyway. |
| Vaalingrade Ashland07-09-06, 03:59 PM | Because the AEG isn't balanced for 3.5e, that's why. That's an excellent reason to use the A&EG. There's a possiblity that magic items won't be woefully over priced and alchemy can be made by characters that would actually make it. |
| woodwalker07-09-06, 07:18 PM | That's two rounds a second, more than some semi-automatic weapons. no, that is not true for any semi auto guns ive shot. hell, navy SEALs in SEAL team 6 can double tap a .357 revolver and put them both in a 3x5 index card on a target in less than that time, and that is while clearing a room ( well, acording to richard marinko in rogue warrior). i double tap a .45 caliber colt commander one handed in that time. |
| stargate52507-09-06, 09:54 PM | no, that is not true for any semi auto guns ive shot. hell, navy SEALs in SEAL team 6 can double tap a .357 revolver and put them both in a 3x5 index card on a target in less than that time, and that is while clearing a room ( well, acording to richard marinko in rogue warrior). i double tap a .45 caliber colt commander one handed in that time. sorry, I don't have a whole load of experience with semi-automatics. But the lever action he describes would take way more time the six seconds to fire all of them, and I would love to see the mechanism that turns 50+ lbs of pull strength into a simple lever action without moving that arm at least two feet. |
| thenotoriousJIM07-11-06, 05:18 PM | AeG is not balanced anymore for magic items. the most glareing is the way they changed bonuses to skill points. they are now a lot more expensive. |
| dengarbountyhunter07-11-06, 06:59 PM | Here's a bunch of weapons and equipment stuff. I'll edit/ post more. They may be unbalanced or completely stupid in design. Please tell me if so. IRON CROSS Exotic one-handed weapon Damage: 1d6 piercing (Medium) Critical: 20/x3 Range increment: 10 ft Price: 5 gp Weigth: 3 lbs. This weapon consists in a cross-shaped weapon with a barbed point on each end. It can be used to reduce the effectiveness of a shield. The attacker must make a sunder attempt (exception to the rule that says that piercing and thrown weapon can’t be used to sunder) against the shield. If the damage dealt is enough to overcome the solidity of the shield, the iron cross stays stuck in it but doesn’t deal damage. The shield user has his shield penalty to skill checks augmented by 2 and the AC bonus of the shield decreased by 1. A Strength check of 15+(amount of damage the iron cross would have dealt) is necessary to take the weapon out of the shield, by a full-round action. If the damage dealt isn’t enough to plant in the shield, the weapon simply falls to the ground. LANTERN-MACE Light simple weapon Damage: 1d6 bludgeoning (Medium) and splash (see description) Critical: 20/x2 Range increment:- Price: 50 gp Weigth: 4 pounds (empty) This weapon is shaped like a light mace with a hollow head. It can be filled with one pint of oil (burns for 1 hour) and lit to give illumination equal to that of a lantern or with holy water to fight undead creatures. It can be used like a light mace in combat and it spills its content on the first target it touches, dealing splash damage (1 point of damage of the relevant type) in addition to normal damage. It takes a full-round action to fill it and a free action to light the oil, thanks to a built-in flint-and-steel mechanism. Creatures of Small size use it as a heavy mace (a light mace of their size would have ridiculously small oil capacity). CROSSBOW BAYONETS Damage: 1d4 piercing (light crossbow) or 1d6 piercing (heavy crossbow) Critical: 20/x2 Range increment:- Price: 10 gp (light crossbow) or 15 gp (heavy crossbow) Weigth: +1 pound (light crossbow) or +2 pounds (heavy crossbow) The crossbow bayonet is a metallic point attached to the end of a crossbow. Its user can attack with the crossbow as if it were a two-handed simple melee weaponn. ROPE LADDER Price: 5 sp Weigth: 10 pounds This 10 feet long rope ladder cannot just be put against a wall like its wooden cousin, but it is much more portable. TELESCOPIC POLE Price: 7 gp Weigth: 6 pounds This metallic pole is 4 feet long when not extended and 10 feet long when it is. |
| woodwalker07-11-06, 08:48 PM | But the lever action he describes would take way more time the six seconds to fire all of them, and I would love to see the mechanism that turns 50+ lbs of pull strength into a simple lever action without moving that arm at least two feet. yes, that is correct. that would not work. |
| Defensor_Vindex07-11-06, 10:53 PM | Serpentine Sword Proficiency: Martial Size: Small Cost: 10 gp Dmg: 1d6 Critical: 19-20/ x2 Weight: 3 lbs. Type: Slashing Description: This wicked looking blade is about the length of a short sword and blade is curved like a slithering snake. It inflicts wide, jagged wounds that impose a -2 penalty on heal checks to cure. This blade is a favorite of evil rogues and assassins, who frequently use poison edges to inflict an even more lethal wound. Message Arrows Cost: 2 gp (20 arrows) Weight: Negligible Type: Piecing Description: This normal looking arrow used during stealthy operations reveals a removeable mid section upon close inspection which has a small hollow storage space which can hold a small piece of paper or parchment, and be resealed to send a secret message to an ally. |
| Wonton200607-11-06, 10:58 PM | I think that the OP was focusing less on weapons, and more on mundane stuff, like all that flavor crap in the equipment section that no one really buys. For example: fishhook, whistle, soap, etc. |
| antsterr07-12-06, 12:30 AM | I always make a point of buying soap when I make a new character and am buying his starting equipment. Anyway. Collapsable Ladder 20FT tall Takes one full round action to snap together. Collapses in to 10 4 foot 10 1 foot bars. You know that some Gnome out there would have come up with something like this. |
| stargate52507-12-06, 12:34 AM | I think that the OP was focusing less on weapons, and more on mundane stuff, like all that flavor crap in the equipment section that no one really buys. For example: fishhook, whistle, soap, etc. True, but these are very cool. TELESCOPIC POLE Price: 7 gp Weigth: 6 pounds This metallic pole is 4 feet long when not extended and 10 feet long when it is. I like that one. Here's some more... Oil Candle 3gp 1/2 lb. This large hollow cylinder has a wick at one end, and the top is unscrewable. When filled with a pint of oil, the wick burns for 12 hours. The light is equivalent to a candle. Grappling Bolt 5gp 1/2 lb. This looks like a slightly thicker and heavier crossbow bolt, but when a light rope is attached and fired, the bolt springs open to become a grappling hook when it hits a solid target. The rope is doubled through the bolt, and a larger rope capable of supporting weight must be attached to the guide rope and pulled through the loop. This makes the rope needed twice as long, but allows a potential grappling hook to travel as far as the crossbow can shoot. Guide String (200 ft.)(self-retracting) 20gp --lbs. This light string comes on a spool, and is threaded into a grappling Bolt in order to pull a heavier rope later. The spool is self retracting, and can retract it's entire length, while pulling 40 lbs. of weight, in 2 rounds. Garunteed not to tangle. Guide String 5gp --lbs. This is exactly the same as the rope above, except the spool does not retract itself, making the pulling job tedious. This string takes five rounds to pull through and requires a use rope check to prevent it from tangling while in use (DC 10 shooting, DC 15 retract). |
| Rakasha#507-12-06, 10:53 AM | What has always ****** me off is that wizards seems to be obbsessed with nerfing alchemy to an almost insane degree. Take ditherbombs from the Races of dragon, I have NEVER seen ANYTHING so overpriced in my entire life! Seriously who would spend that much on something that would give you a small bonus to a single check or deals a tiny bit of damage. Wizards NEEDS to put out some cool non magical stuff that is not horribly overpriced or really weak. They should make a new AOEG and maybe put in an alchemist classif they really want to justify it all that's all you have to do. I mean first of all magic items are really a bit too expensive already, but seriously Wizards seems to have something against cool equipment. Also the most alchemist fire or acid or a tanglefoot bag would be a effective at is very low levels, they need some more powerful higher level alchemy. PS some of these things in this thread are the coolest I've seen in a LONG time. Though the multishot crossbow is just...well the amount of tension on the string would be insane, and having 12 different strings is madness. its just far too overpowered. But everthing else I've seen is really good. Also I have a contribution Collapseable 10 foot pole same is normal except twice the normal price. I've always wondered how people carried around ten foot poles, its just like very bit. |

Not "basic" The Repeating Crossbow is pump action originally and the Semi-automatic assembly is a "upgrade" as is the additional pully and spring crank system that makes the thing "fully automtic" "Ulimited" firing is imposible cause weight and space in backpack is a factor and unless you are being charged by a vampire or such it would be unessesary to try to 'overkill" Likewise keywords are "springs", "pulles", cranks, and Wires, so this is a Gnomish device and follows the same rules for Gnomish Machines and devices for suddenly going "boing", "Snap", "crack" or the like especially when doing the "full unload" into a charging vampire or the trigger down for more then a "burst" of 3-5 bolts a round when "fully automatic" P.S. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br4UOZK5YvI&mode=related&search=minigun Is this "broken"?
