2 Shields [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-22-06, 11:15 AM I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find anything.

Is there anything that says a character can't use 2 shields and gain bonuses from both shields? Shield bashing with both shields?

05-22-06, 11:21 AM The problem would be that you would have two different shields giving you seperate shield bonuses to AC. Since shield bonsues won't stack, the benefits of your shields will overlap.

Now, if you had say one Hvy Steel Shield that was adamantine and granted heavy fortification, and you had another Hvy Steel Shield that had the Reflecting ability and granted Fire Resistance 30, I could see the benefits of using two shields (assuming you were a decent shield basher).

But as far as AC goes two shields won't realy help with that one bit.

I'll say yes to this. While you won't get the shield bonus to AC from both shields, you can still use them both as a weapon. Of course, I'm not sure why you'd want to do this, since there are better TWF combos out there, unless you're wanting to do something like Father Dale suggested and want to stock up on defensive enhancements.

05-22-06, 10:31 PM Ok i've always wanted to make a char. off this. I say make a feat or Class that lets you get both. Or some kind of fighting style that you use both in combat as weapon and shield so your like some kind of low damage high AC body guard.

05-22-06, 10:33 PM I know it's kinda cheese, but personally, I would allow you to get the bonuses from both shields if you wielded two, on the grounds that you do have better defensive capability if you are carrying a shield in each hand compared to if you had only one shield and anything else in your hand...Just my opinion...

05-22-06, 11:45 PM The Iron Heroes book has a shield feat mastery that lets you get AC bonuses from both shields while using both as weapons. The armor and shield feats in IH may be what you are looking for.
