| Saytr05-01-07, 10:27 PM | Swear I saw it but don't know where. A +2 weapon enhancement that just gives a flat +5 to damage. Where? And what is it called? ~ |
| wonlee7605-01-07, 10:33 PM | Collision: XPH and probably in MIC. |
| wal900005-01-07, 10:37 PM | Collision: XPH and probably in MIC. It is indeed in the Magic Item Compendium. Page 31. |
| Chimaera200005-01-07, 10:57 PM | It's also in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/weapons.htm#collision). |
| Saytr05-01-07, 10:58 PM | Thank you gentlemen. :cookie: and.. :cookie: and.. :cookie: (completely missed it in the SRD) ~ |
| Kanachi05-02-07, 05:02 AM | Am I being silly here because could you not just get an average of 7 (range of 2-12) additional damage from 2 +1 enchantment instead? Would that not serve you better? |
| Romtos05-02-07, 05:43 AM | Am I being silly here because could you not just get an average of 7 (range of 2-12) additional damage from 2 +1 enchantment instead? Would that not serve you better? I believe this damage is multiplied when you crit, and extra damage dice aren't. |
| Necromas05-02-07, 06:11 AM | Eh, if you have power attack, and you usually should, a plain +2 enhancement can be power attacked into at least +6 damage, or +4 for those crazy one handers (which is multiplied on a crit, only extra damage that is rolled isn't counted, like the +1d6 from flaming). And you have the advantage of not power attacking and getting your +2 attack/+2 damage as normal. |
| jaelis05-02-07, 08:01 AM | First: compared to flaming & co., collision has the advantages of (1) being multiplied on a crit, (2) not being subject to energy resistance, and (3) helping to work past damage reduction. I think its a fair deal. Second: if you're wielding a 2H weapon, nothing beats straight enhancement bonuses. You already deal plenty of damage, and if you need more, use power attack. However, you can only get your straight bonus up to +5, and then you have to look for something else. Collision is a reasonable option. |
| runestar05-02-07, 08:22 AM | If you have a spellcaster willing to cast greater magic weapon on you at the start of each day, then it makes little sense to increase the enhancement bonus of your weapon beyond the obligatory +1...:P |
| jaelis05-02-07, 10:11 AM | Indeed, it doesn't matter how you get your straight bonus up to +5... GMW is a reasonable way. |
| Rulebook05-02-07, 01:28 PM | collision is really good on the nifty crit weapons (scimitar/picks) too. well i suppose its about equally as good as most other weapons, but the nifty crits are just cooler. though theres a fun case to be made for collision spiked gauntlets for the fun factor. |
