| Tsh7776904-06-05, 02:21 AM | Can you use two weapon fighting and flurry of blows together and what exactly would be the effect? Do you think it would be worth it? A related sub-set question. If a monk uses them both together, how it is affected by that fact taht according to the PHB, monks do not have an off hand? Tsh77769 |
| Tsh7776904-06-05, 02:26 AM | BTW, what is your favorite monk weapon (flurry compatable)? I am leaning to the quarter staff for the ability to be used as a two handed weapon or a double weapon. With some feats,I think you can even use it as a reach weapon at least temporarily. I think it might be the most versatile flurry compatable weapon. Other ideas? Tsh77769 |

A Monk normally doesn't have an off hand when making his attacks, but when he uses it an extra attack made with TWF it's treated like a Normal weapon. So he'd only do 1/2 Strength damage as opposed to full. An example can be found in the 3.5 FAQ. We just had a discussion on this last week or so... This means that you must have some non Unarmed Strike weapon in order to use two-weapon fighting. Either may be declared as the primary weapon. |

In fact, what you claim is entirely contrary to the FAQ, which points out that you can, indeed, use unarmed strikes as off hand weapons, and combine Flurry and TWF when wielding two unarmed strikes.
