| JPDeed11-08-07, 01:38 AM | I never quite got this part, i havent been able to find it clearly defined anywhere. Can someone riding still use a 2H weapon as an attack option? I can imagine that twisting and turning wielding a greatsword would be pretty well difficult. And lances - this is more a statement than a question - i use the mount's strength to judge damage done when used. Does anyone else do that? |
| BarivusTheFearless11-08-07, 01:42 AM | My suggestion; take into account the horsemanship of the character. Perhaps apply a penalty. If the character screws up, where is the swing? Does the horse take dmg? etc... |

And lances - this is more a statement than a question - i use the mount's strength to judge damage done when used. Does anyone else do that? Not me, at least. The extra force from being on the mount is represented by the 'double damage with a lance' rule. |
| BarivusTheFearless11-08-07, 01:45 AM | Also if it's a 2H weap, but something that can be weilded by an extremely proficient individual (really only swords/spears/lances can apply, in my mind) in a single hand, perhaps there is no penalty at a charge (out, upright position). thought i should add that too :) |
| JPDeed11-08-07, 01:52 AM | Heh, those answers were FAST. Cheers guys. I am trying to recall any movie imagery with someone with a 2HW on horeback. Oh - and thanks for the reminder for charge double dam - that makes sense ;) |
| BarivusTheFearless11-08-07, 02:07 AM | Oh - and thanks for the reminder for charge double dam - that makes sense ;) no problem. :) also the charge will mean he wont hit his mount. however, charges are not always possible ;) just dont forget about the fumbles too. lol. if the guy is mounted, and swinging, and misses, check that he doesn't hit his steed, if he does, the steed MUST take the dmg, barring any divine protection on the mount (of course  ) lol. |

D&D handles it by instead doubling damage on a lance charge. |
| BarivusTheFearless11-08-07, 03:35 PM | There are no fumble rules. Why not? |
| mvincent11-08-07, 03:49 PM | Why not? While it's hard to definitely pin down 'why' the rules are the way they are, my guess would be because people with high BAB's would be more likely to fumble (since they have more attacks to roll a 1 on). |
| Slimgauge11-08-07, 04:00 PM | See the Ride skill in the SRD: Guide with Knees You can react instantly to guide your mount with your knees so that you can use both hands in combat. Make your Ride check at the start of your turn. If you fail, you can use only one hand this round because you need to use the other to control your mount. With a DC 5 ride check to "Guide with Knees", you can wield a 2H weapon on horseback. Control Mount in Battle As a move action, you can attempt to control a light horse, pony, heavy horse, or other mount not trained for combat riding while in battle. If you fail the Ride check, you can do nothing else in that round. You do not need to roll for warhorses or warponies. If your mount is not trained for war, you also need a DC 20 "Control Mount in Battle" check or you can't do anything else. If your mount is trained for war, you don't have to make that check, but if you want your mount to ALSO attack while you're attacking you need a DC 10 Ride check to "Fight with Warhorse" Fight with Warhorse If you direct your war-trained mount to attack in battle, you can still make your own attack or attacks normally. This usage is a free action. |

| Legdiwena11-08-07, 06:59 PM | Must have missed those, you know the page number? |

| Legdiwena11-08-07, 08:39 PM | How exactly do you roll 0? |
| RavenDrake11-08-07, 10:24 PM | Must have missed those, you know the page number? At the bottom of page 28 (3.5 DMG), in the sidebar with the Instant Kill and Soft Critical variant rules. |
| BarivusTheFearless11-08-07, 10:44 PM | How exactly do you roll 0? cursed dice AAAHHHH lol no i just brain-farted. meant 1... though you could end up with 0 with a penalty... perhaps that's what i meant? i dunno... hahaha :) |
| mvincent11-09-07, 12:03 PM | How exactly do you roll 0?Is that the same as "00"? Because I remember everyone rolling that for their strength scores in earlier editions of AD&D. [/humor] |
| Legdiwena11-09-07, 02:08 PM | I never understood how Str scores worked in the old versions. |
