Can a familiar, with the Scent special ability, help you identify the location of an invisible attacker?

If the familiar is within 5 feet of the invisible opponent, it knows what square it is in. If you can Speak with Familiar, its not hard for it to tell you on its turn where the enemy is, and hopefully you go before the enemy has a chance to change squares. If you only have Empathy, it would be much trickier for you to infer where the enemy is, based on the familiar's orientation. DM's discretion then. And this all depends on the familiar's intelligence- you would have to discuss such a tactic beforehand with it, or else it might not occur the the low-intelligence familiar that you don't know where the enemy is.

According to the skill expansion of Handle Animal in Races of Stone, yes, using the scent ability and the new Scent Fighting trick in concert.
