As you know you can draw a weapon during a move. Can you, if you had a Wand in a sheath, draw it as you do a move if you have a BAB of 1 or greater?

Situation: I have a Wrist Sheath (Arms & Equipment Guide), that allows for small weapons to be stored in the wrist, like a dagger. Could I place a wand there and then retrieve it while moving?

Thanks.

my common sense rule it is this:

if you can do a move action perfectly while moving, then it is included.

you can perfectly draw anything from the belt while moving...

-> Ask your DM, it's up to him/her.

The reason you're allowed to draw a weapon in such a way is because weapons are generally kept in a place and position that allows them to be easily and quickly drawn. Because of this, I would say that you couldn't produce a wand in the same was you can a weapon. HOWEVER, in your specific situation, I would allow it, since you've got your wand stowed in the same place and position as a weapon would nromally be stowed.

I would say it all depends if you're "drawing" a wand or "retrieving" a wand. If you're drawing from wand sheath, then I would regard it as drawing a weapon in all ways (not provoking AoO's for example), but if you're rooting around in your backpack for it, then you are "retrieving a stored item" IMO.

on a similar note...i have a campaign going where the major military force fields lancers with sabers and short throwing lances...

but the officers are either sorcerers or fighter/sorcerers who generally carry wands instead of more conventional weapons...a sorc. with a wand of scorching ray and one of hold person on horseback is pretty formidable..

enough off topic...

with the wand-carriers, they have "wand sheathes" on their right sides, kinda like a modern sidearm holster, each carries 2 wands...are there any pre-made items like this, or should i just go ahead and make em up?

premade is less time and effort for me, which is good!

Isn't a wand just a small stick? I mean as long as the wand is in a holdster or somewhere retrievable it should be alright. Technically I could wack you with the wand.

From the SRD (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/theraven_stephenh/magicitem/Wands_Basics.html):Physical Description: A typical wand is 6 inches to 12 inches long and about 1/4 inch thick, and often weighs no more than 1 ounce. Most wands are wood, but some are bone. A rare few are metal, glass, or even ceramic, but these are quite exotic. Occasionally, a wand has a gem or some device at its tip, and most are decorated with carvings or runes. A typical wand has AC 7, 5 hit points, hardness 5, and a break DC of 16.

I would rule that any reasonably-sized object kept in an immediately accessible place, such as a sheath, belt, or bandolier, could be drawn as a weapon.

Draw or Sheathe a Weapon
Drawing a weapon so that you can use it in combat, or putting it away so that you have a free hand, requires a move action. This action also applies to weapon-like objects carried in easy reach, such as wands. If your weapon or weapon-like object is stored in a pack or otherwise out of easy reach, treat this action as retrieving a stored item.

If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may draw a weapon as a free action combined with a regular move.

thanks hyp...i knew it was somewhere but i just couldn't find it...and quickdraw would apply to said wandsheathes as regular sheathed weapons, right?

I would rule that if the wand is in a sheath or easily accessible (like stuck in a belt at the waist), you could draw it as you could a weapon with a Move Action. This is clearly stated in the RAW.

But not as a free action when part of a regular move as a weapon could. It is not stated in the RAW that you could do this with weapon-like objects (like wands).

I can understand why it is not stated, as a wand would be a lot more fragile than a weapon and much more easily broken when drawing it while moving.

It depends on your DM's reading of the feat.

Does it let you draw a weapon as a free action, or does it let you Draw a Weapon (as in, take the Draw a Weapon action, which applies to weaponlike objects as well) as a free action? :)
