| Harmor08-31-04, 02:50 AM | Weapon Strap This short thong or rope is attached between your wrist and your weapon. You may place a weapon strap on light weapons and one-handed weapons only. When used on a one-handed weapon your hand is always considered full. You may not place a weapon strap on a two-handed weapon. You may drop the weapon as a free action, but the weapon is not on the ground, rather dangling from your wrist with the weapon strap. To attach or remove the weapon strap requires a full-round action that provokes an attack of opportunity. You may drop the weapon as a free action and it will then dangle from your wrist. You incur a armor check penalty equal to the weight of the weapon because it is failing about and may harm you. If you have a light weapon on a weapon strap you incur that same penalty to attack rolls with that hand. (Example: A dagger you let loose handing around your wrist weighs 1 lb., you incur a -1 ACP and -1 to attack rolls until you reequip the weapon). Recovering the weapon to the empty hand is a move-equivalent action and can be done while moving as a free action. If you have the Quick Draw feat you may return the weapon to your hand as a free action. A weapon strap gives you a +2 circumstance bonus to resist a disarm attempt. If you are dismarmed the weapon strap falls with the weapon to the ground into your square. Weight: 1/2 lbs. Cost: 2gp. |
| kjenks08-31-04, 08:15 AM | SRD Gauntlet, locked This armored gauntlet has small chains and braces that allow the wearer to attach a weapon to the gauntlet so that it cannot be dropped easily. It provides a +10 bonus on any roll made to keep from being disarmed in combat. Removing a weapon from a locked gauntlet or attaching a weapon to a locked gauntlet is a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity. The price given is for a single locked gauntlet. The weight given applies only if you’re wearing a breastplate, light armor, or no armor. Otherwise, the locked gauntlet replaces a gauntlet you already have as part of the armor. While the gauntlet is locked, you can’t use the hand wearing it for casting spells or employing skills. (You can still cast spells with somatic components, provided that your other hand is free.) Like a normal gauntlet, a locked gauntlet lets you deal lethal damage rather than nonlethal damage with an unarmed strike. 8 gp +5 lb |
| DrunkDwarf08-31-04, 09:06 AM | kjenks, this is quite different from a locked gauntlet, firstly, you can let it go and have it hanging from your wrist, to be able to use the hand, to cast a spell for example. plus it wouldn't be as difficult to disarm as a locked gauntlet. btw, wouldn't this be better called a Lanyard? |

| Harmor08-31-04, 01:30 PM | Without provoking an AoO, I presume?Yeah, its just like drawing a weapon. Do you think I should say that in the description to make it clear? |
| FitzNighteyes08-31-04, 01:31 PM | Yeah, its just like drawing a weapon. Do you think I should say that in the description to make it clear? Maybe. I was thinking in terms of retrieving a dropped weapon from the ground, and comparing it to that. That's why I specifically had AoOs in mind. |
