| MOD300403-24-07, 12:56 AM | I have a crazy dm that is letting us have 350,000 gold through crazy exchange rates. So what should I buy for my Warblade? Any thoughts? |
| Gadren03-24-07, 01:37 AM | What level are you? What are your stats? You feats? Your prefered weapon and fighting style? Two handed weapon, two weapon fighting, sword and shield? Contrary to popular belief, there can be a lot of variety in tank eq, depending on what direction you take your feats, techniques, etc. I tend to prefer a sword and shield, two weapon fighting technique, with light armor. Let us know details first, then we can make more informed decisions on your investment. |
| ArcTan03-24-07, 01:41 AM | Here's a convenient link: http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/epicMagicItems.htm Go to town. |
| angryman03-24-07, 02:01 AM | I have a crazy dm that is letting us have 350,000 gold through crazy exchange rates. So what should I buy for my Warblade? Any thoughts? OK here's an awesome idea. 1 chicken is about 1 copper piece. You could buy 3.5 million chickens with that money. Although, you'd have to pay extra for cages and barns and labour, so let's knock that down to an even 3 million. The rest of the money goes to cages, maintenance, pay, and chicken feed. 1) Buy Chickens. 2) ? 3) Profit. |
| MOD300403-24-07, 02:24 AM | Oh ya feats and such... Character Level 9 Str 18 Dex 18 Con 18 Int 14 Wis 12 Cha 14 Feats: Weapon Focus Greatsword (but changable due to Warblade status) Power Attack Weapon Specialization Greatsword Adaptive Style Acrobatic Improved Critical GreatSword I've been using a Mithral Chain Shirt but you know whatever works. |
| enygmatic_me03-24-07, 02:35 AM | You are 9th level and have 350,000 GP to spend. Broadsword? This only happens for two reasons. 1) Your DM is going to take it all away at some point, most likely early, in campaign. 2) Your DM is not thinking straight and you may all end up regretting it. My suggestion, buy an intelligent weapon and the best armor you can. With the rest buy a castle and enough magic protections to safeguard the remainder of your treasure and retire young. Aside from that get a hold of the Magic Item Compendium and go crazy. Don't forget your augment crystals and the gauntlets that give you the equivalent of powerful build. |
| tripleee6903-24-07, 02:51 AM | Daern's instant fortress upgraded with regeneration,15+DR,reflection,true ownership and on the inside hot and cold flask of endless water(shower),one way ring gates(toliet),and a couple merlind spoons upgraded to actuly make sumthin tasty. use this as ether a home or a mobile hotel like i do and make a hell of a profit. :D |
| Witch03-24-07, 07:48 AM | Here's a convenient link: http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/epicMagicItems.htm Go to town. Bad idea. Epic Magic Items shouldn't be bought with this little gold. Even wealth appropriate for level 24 characters or similar should likely avoid most of these items due to their obscene price. |
| Tonil03-24-07, 09:03 AM | Manual of Gainful Exercse +4 110,000gp Manual of Quickness of Action +4 110,000gp Manual of Bodily Health +4 110,000gp Magic Items come and go, ability boosts are forever (well, not forever, but you get the picture). |
| obrysii03-24-07, 09:22 AM | An Ironwyrm Golem keyed to you. It's expensive, but little short of epic level can stop one of those things. |
| Gadren03-24-07, 02:59 PM | Manual of Gainful Exercse +4 110,000gp Manual of Quickness of Action +4 110,000gp Manual of Bodily Health +4 110,000gp Magic Items come and go, ability boosts are forever (well, not forever, but you get the picture). Ooooh, good idea! DM can't take away inherent bonuses! (Unless, ya know, he kills you and traps your soul.) That leaves 20,000 gp to get relatively normal magic gear for your level. I don't know where you got broadsword from, so I don't what base weapon stats to work off of. Also, what gear do you already have besides the mithril shirt? |
| MOD300403-24-07, 05:02 PM | I meant Greatsword not broadsword. Had myself confused... |
| Gadren03-24-07, 06:34 PM | I meant Greatsword not broadsword. Had myself confused... Ok, so what other magical gear do you already have? |
| MOD300403-24-07, 07:41 PM | This is what I've got... + 2 Mithral Chainshirt + 1 Heavy Mithral Sheild + 1 Keen Longsword + 1 Greatsword + 1 Ring of Protection ...and thats it! |
| StruckingFuggle03-24-07, 08:36 PM | Daern's instant fortress upgraded with regeneration,15+DR,reflection,true ownership and on the inside hot and cold flask of endless water(shower),one way ring gates(toliet),and a couple merlind spoons upgraded to actuly make sumthin tasty. use this as ether a home or a mobile hotel like i do and make a hell of a profit. :D Upgrade? Feh. Get a use-activated slotless item of Prestidigitation at will. Then you can flavor the food however you want, *and* use it for all sorts other fun, too. Oh yeah, I second the reccomendation for the tomes, and then I'd reccomend probably upgrading your weapons and armor. Until it was nerfed in the MIC, I'd've also suggested a Blindfold Of True Darkness or whatever gave you 60' blindsight + eversmoking bottle, but these days, not so much. |
| Chrono Nexus03-24-07, 08:44 PM | Buy two mirrors of opposition, an animated tower shield, and some sovereign glue...;) And a heightened caster level rod of ropetrick. |
| PhaedrusXY03-24-07, 10:22 PM | I will third the suggestion for Tomes to boost your stats. I'd guess your DM is going to regret giving you guys so much money, and take it away, or destroy the toys you bought with it later. The only way he can take away your inherent bonuses is to permanently kill off your character. I'd give this campaign a very high probability of ending in flaming ruin very soon. :D |
| Arturius103-24-07, 11:23 PM | This is what I've got... + 2 Mithral Chainshirt + 1 Heavy Mithral Sheild + 1 Keen Longsword + 1 Greatsword + 1 Ring of Protection ...and thats it! ....why? |
| MOD300403-25-07, 01:02 AM | ....why? I don't understand your question. Rephrase please. |
| Needle03-25-07, 09:35 AM | What kind of economy has magic items of that kind of value in shop windows..? |
| Witch03-25-07, 02:03 PM | What kind of economy has magic items of that kind of value in shop windows..? Sigil. Union. Dis. |
| Pangeon03-25-07, 02:17 PM | Yeah, get a castle. |
| Nephlite03-25-07, 03:44 PM | This is what I've got... + 2 Mithral Chainshirt + 1 Heavy Mithral Sheild + 1 Keen Longsword + 1 Greatsword + 1 Ring of Protection ...and thats it! Ideas-- AUGMENT CRYSTALS: changing them is a move action. Armor- 1) Least Iron ward Diamond: DR1/- but only blocks 10 damage in total. But useful. I'd suggest Lesser but they work in meduim or heavy only. If it runs out use another crystal of it or a different type. 2) Lesser Crystal Mind cloaking: +3 comptence mind affecting saves. Good because will saves aren't your Forte I bet. Shield- 1) Crystal of Arrow Deflection: +5 AC versus ranged attacks 2) Clasp of Energy protection: Lesser: firdst choose an energy type when buying, Resistance to that type 10, total 50 damage prevented. Weapon- 1) Crystal of Lesser life Drink- Heals 3 hps each succesful hit. Max=30 damage healed. 2) True death crystal- good for undead fighting, Lesser adds 1d6 extra damage to undead and ghost touch. 3) Energy assualt Crystal- Lesser adds 1d6 energy (chosen when bought offire, elec, cold, or fire) damage. Weapon enhancements- 1) +1 bonus yoiu can gain +5 Init 2) Whirling=Whirlwind as a +1 bonus 3) Impedance: when hit a creature, for 1d6 rounds, they have to roll a spellcraft, Int, or Cha check (whichever isd higher) to cast a spell or spell-like ability or lose it. 4) Dispelling: when strike enemy, they are targeted by dispel magic effect as the spell (caster 5th). Armor enhancements: A few good ones 1) Agility: adds resistance bonus to reflex saves for a cost (not a bonus number) 2) Blurring or greater blurring: makes you blurred as the spell. Blurr is 3/day/Greater has no limit. 3) Heartening: cost not a bonus, 2/day, 5 temphps for 5 minutes. 4) Healing: 1/day when reduced to -1 to -1 hps, heals you 2d8+5. Agasin a cost not a bonus. 5) Speed: cost not a bonus, 3/day haste 1 round. 6) Styptic: Stablize automatically/no further hp loss from bleeding (like from dying). 25% chance blood-draining attack that affects con not work like Vamp bit, etc. |
| Kadrimdorian_Mage03-25-07, 10:52 PM | Buy no magic items. Get an HQ in Sigil, booby trap it, and start a secret society. The LEADERSHIP feat (PHB) could help with this. Once you've done this, work up to a massive society, then take your invasion force down to the material plane, or any plane of choice, and take everything. You don't get an instant bonus, but you get to control some part of the material plane, or whatever plane. Which would you take: 1.A shiny new sword, or 2.WORLD DOMINATION!!! |
| Nezkrul03-26-07, 10:36 AM | spend 200,000 on a Belt of Magnificence +6... warblades get a lot out of it. upgrade your armor and shield to +5 for 55,000 vest of resistance +5 for 25,000 cloak of minor displacement for 24,000 ring of sustenance non-slotted for 5,000 ring of freedom of movement for 40,000 pocket 1000 gold. thats what i'd do if i had the money (likely the only time id ever buy the belt is when i'm just handed enough cash to buy one :D ) |
| Rulebook03-26-07, 03:15 PM | three words... solid gold toilet |
| malignor03-26-07, 03:26 PM | Switch the books listed for... Tome of Clear Thought (+Int, as high as you can get) ... Then split up the rest among... Manual of Gainful Exercise (+Str) Manual of Bodily Health (+Con) Manual of Swiftness of Action (+Dex) If you're ever going to boost Intelligence, do it early for more skill points. If there's one thing I've learned over the years of playing, it's that skill ranks turn a character into a useful character, and make you more involved in the game, more often. I say this knowing you're a martial class. With whatever is left over, buy yourself some Adamantine Full Plate +1, a Ring of Sustenance and a Necklace of Adaptation. |
| StruckingFuggle03-26-07, 05:19 PM | If you're not worried about losing the gear... ... an item that gives a huge competence boost to concentration, plus a keen scimitar or rapier or kukri, can be a lot of fun. Take some Diamond Mind maneuvers, and prepare to frag everything in sight. |
| Tharivol_Nailo03-26-07, 10:24 PM | three words... solid gold toilet amen to that! or maybe a holy, gold toilet |
| Angatyr03-26-07, 10:37 PM | For something like 150,000, you can have a 40ft tall, three story mithral tower that greater teleports 2/day, with 4 ballistae. (custom build from stronghold builder's guide). Every party needs it's own portable base of operations, and what an entrance! Buy two! |
| Arturius103-26-07, 11:08 PM | I don't understand your question. Rephrase please. Why so little bought? |
| MOD300403-27-07, 01:57 AM | Started off life as a level 7 with starting gold for that level character.. My former character, a kickass Wilder got killed off. Damn she was nice, ditzy though. Killed a level 12 wizard at 7 with one shot of Mind Thrust. Its nice when they roll ones! As an update my dm confiscated 150,000 gold to pay for "tuition and bribes". Now only about 200,000 to play with. It makes me sad. On the plus side I leveled to 10 after a lengthy battle and coup de graing a lvl 14 Rogue that surrendered woot go xp! |
| Tharivol_Nailo03-27-07, 10:17 AM | Then forego the belt +6, and buy magic items to keep your butt alive |
| shadowninja0503-31-07, 08:57 PM | I have a crazy dm that is letting us have 350,000 gold through crazy exchange rates. So what should I buy for my Warblade? Any thoughts? Well, I got a question. What is the normal budget a lvl 9 character would have? Would it depend on the amount of treasure gained from adventure, the discretion of the DM, character's personal background? |
| Rulebook03-31-07, 09:16 PM | normal for a 9th level char is less than 40k i belive. he's gonna be superman. |
| shadowninja0503-31-07, 09:31 PM | normal for a 9th level char is less than 40k i belive. he's gonna be superman. Where does it state the average amount of wealth per character level? |
| Merestil Haye03-31-07, 09:43 PM | DMG page 135. |
| Cartigan03-31-07, 10:08 PM | 150k gold boat. So you can say you have a boat. |
| Kadrimdorian_Mage04-01-07, 12:37 AM | Buy a folding boat, commision the building of a wheeled rack to place the boat on so that you can ride the boat on land. Next, either make good use of sails, or buy horses, to move the boat. Now you have a land-sea boat. Attach wings and a drill and you'll be good to go in all four elements(HeHe). |
| Cartigan04-01-07, 07:53 AM | Genius, an enchanted landboat! |
| Maraxus04-05-07, 01:15 PM | Head: Helm of Teleportation Amulet: Con +6 Vest: Resistences +6 Armor: Celestial Armor +5 Belt: Str +6 Cloak: Major Displacement. Bracers: Dex +6 (custom) Gauntlets: Titan's Grip Boots: Speed Ioun Stones: Clear Spindle (no food/water), Dusty rose Prism (+1 AC insight), Pale green Prism (+1 stuff) Psionic Skin: Skin of the Defender (+4 NA) Rings: Protection +5, Greater Spell-Storing Weapon: Vicious, Wounding, Spellstoring, Flaming, Shocking, Frost Adamantine Greatsword +1 Carpet of Flying (5x10) |
| mvincent04-05-07, 02:45 PM | amen to that! or maybe a holy, gold toilet+3 holy, gold toilet of smell-storing |
| mvincent04-05-07, 02:55 PM | 1) Intelligent ring of telekinesis (can activate it's own powers) 2) Brilliant energy spiked chain and a ring of X-ray vision (to attack through walls) 3) One dozen Daern's instant fortresses (coupled with quick draw, TWF'ing and rapid shot) 4) Colossal, permanent Animated Object with wings of flying 5) Rings gates and a portable hole (to pass back and forth between them) 6) Ring of friend shield and a charmed (or geased) troll. |
| Eragon_seer04-05-07, 03:08 PM | hmm, Does a holy goden toilet turn all the poo and pee in it into holy feises that when thrown at undead acts as holy water? :plotting: I think I am going to roll up an awakened monkey of pelor who throws holy poo around. :evillaugh |
