Monk's Belt (13K): one extra stunning fist per day, +5 levels for monk unarmed bonuses (which means +1 AC, and +1 or more average damage, depending on your level)
OR:
Belt of Giant Strength +4 (16K): +2 to hit, +2 to damage

If you don't get a Belt of Giant Strength, get Gauntlets of Ogre Power (4K) to get yourself +1 to hit, +1 to damage.

After that, you've got 19K or 20K left to play with.

If you can count on having a Sorcerer/Wizard in your group to use a first-level spell slot to cast Mage Armor on you, skip the Bracers of Armor. Otherwise, get Bracers +1 for 1K or +2 for 4K.

Other items on the shopping list:
Gloves of DEX +2 (+1 to AC, initiative, Reflex saves, missile attacks, and tumble/hide/move silently checks): (4K)
Ring of Protection +1 and/or Amulet of Natural Armor +1: (2k each)
Amulet of Mighty Fists +1 (+1 hit and damage): (6K)
Periapt of WIS +2 (+1 to AC, listen/spot checks, Will saves, and Stunning Fist DC): (4K)
Amulet of Health +2 (+1 hp per level): (4K)
(Remember, no gloves of DEX if you already have Gauntlets of STR, and only one amulet.)

Boots of Speed, as mentioned above, are pretty handy. For 10 rounds per day, you can act as if hasted, which means +1 to hit, AC, and Reflex saves, and one extra attack. Note that the +30 ft bonus to speed doesn't stack with the speed bonus from being a monk. They are pretty expensive, though. (12K)

Don't forget weapons! Be sure to have a light slashing weapon (to cut your way out if swallowed whole), and weapons made of special materials (to overcome damage resistance). You probably can't afford an adamantium weapon, but get cold iron and alchemical silver. Say, a cold iron kama, and a silver siangham.
Also, don't forget missile weapons. As a monk, go for a light crossbow and some shuriken.
If you have money to spare, get a masterwork crossbow. Don't bother getting magic weapons, though. Your normal mode of attack will be unarmed.

If you have another 1000 gp lying around, get yourself a Cloak of Resistance +1 for the save bonus.
