So power attacking with two hands adds 2 points of damage for ever point you take away from your attack roll. What happens when a thri-kreen power attacks with all 4 hands holding a great sword. Does he get any more than 2 extra points of damage?

There's likely RAW material about this that I am totally unaware of. My gut reaction would be to not allow 4-handed weilding, as-described. the sheer absurdity of it biology-wise and physics-wise is staggering. I can't envision an angle from which four hands could be simultaneously used to land a meaningful blow....

now four hands with a spear? ...maybe

Is this before or after you imagine a 6' tall praying mantis using a greatsword?

To the OP, IIRC there is a blurb in Savage Species that gives you +1 damage for each extra hand. Beyond that, I don't know.

the only times i would allow this is with something like, a reach weapon. A spear, halbard, etc, something with a long extended haft that you can really focus with 4 hands on.

But thats just me. And I would probably allow a 2.5 strength increase instead of a 1.5 for 2 hands or something.

I saw an official clarification somehwere stating that there was no beneficial effect for having mroe than two hands, but I can't seem to find it. I'll keep looking.

Touche - but in truth, I have far less problem with the 6' tall mantis-man than I do with trying to visualize how it manages to use 4 hands on a greatsword. Not to say I'd disallow it out of hand, but I personally have a hard time visualizing it in a non-awkward way.

For those that find it cool and reasonable - I think something like +1 damage/additional hand sounds reasonable. Of course I can just imagine someone's eyes lighting up as they now envision the celestial tauric millipede build with the appropriate feats to allow it to use, oh say 500 of its 1000 legs to grasp a greatsword for an additional +498 dam/attack

I think I could imagine it working, considering many real-world examples of greatswords already have grips up to 18" in length ... just say that the grips of thri-keen greatswords are even longer, say 2 feet. That would be a bit better, I'd thinkl, although I'd wouldn't make them mechanically any different. That would just be an unecessary headache. As for the awkwardness, I'd assume that the physiology of thri-keen joints is such that this would be possible. Or something along those lines.

Add 0.5 of your Strength modifier per additional arm wielding the weapon, as a continuation of the rules for wielding a weapon in two hands. Your weapon should adjudicate this as necessary – as I recall, the official example allowed a marilith to use this to full effect, but I wouldn't allow a hecatoncheires (as they are described as having issues with attacking due to their hundred hands, being incapable of using all their attacks on most small creatures, and being unable to make iterative attacks).

There is no rule for power attacking, so do not change the factor based on the number of additional hands.

As I recall, wasn't there a modification in either Savage Species or another monsterous book that allowed a weapon to be weilded with multiple hands... I could swear it was official, but it may have been a 3rd party book referenced in another thread.... I think such a modified weapon would allow for Power attacks and such with increased effectivness... and may have rules for such embedded in it... but someone will have to correct me on this if i'm mistaken...

No, you remember right. I'm pretty sure that there's a part that says you can get your weapon modified to fit loads of hands. You get a +0.5 * your strength modifier on regular damage for each hand used in wielding the weapon, so a Marilith wielding a greatsword in all six hands would get +3.5 times its strength bonus on the damage. I'm not sure about power attacks though...

Is it legal to post a picture of the specific section? Either way, SS explains it in full detail on page 42.

Power Attacks are a no.
