4 hands: two two-handed weapons? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-12-07, 04:22 PM The Thri-Kreen (Expanded Psionics Handbook) is one of several posibilities a creature has for controlling 4 arms, each capable of wielding a weapon.

Would a 4 armed creature be able to wield 2 greatswords (for example)?

Since wielding a weapon two-handed adds 1.5 your strength to damage, and the "clumsy" hand of TWF adds 0.5 the bonus, how would you handle the strength bonuses to damage?

07-12-07, 04:46 PM The problem is that 4-armed creatures generally have only one hand that counts as a principal hand... so it would be like weilding one of the greatswords in off-hands.

I think so. I looked for a creature that has 4 arms and wields only 2 weapons, but all multiarmed thing I could find used 1 weapon per hand-I assume that designers assumed more attacks were more dangerous than more damage. However, the spell Girallon's Blessing from SS gives extra arms to the recipient, and those can be used to use 2 handed weapons, and if someone unfamiliar with their extra arms can use them that way, I would assume that someone that had them their whole life could as well.

Just a houserule, I could't find anything official, but I'd say that 2 offhands deal 1x Str damage.

07-12-07, 09:48 PM As far as I can see, weilding two two-handed weapons should technically be possible... However, you'll be taking Multi-weapon fighting penalties as though using non-light offhand weapons.

07-12-07, 10:27 PM The 2-handed weapon you wield with your main-hand would get 1.5 str mod, the other 2-handed weapon would only get 1.0 str mod to damage, since it is being wielded by 2 of your off-hands.:)

Other than that, should be okay.

Unless I took the feat which allowed me to wield a one-handed weapon on the off-hand and treat it as a light weapon for TWF. It's in one of the COMPLETE books (Warrior, I think)

So I could technically use a greatsword on 2 hands (the "good" hands) and use a longsword with my other 2 clumsy hands.

The str x 1 rule to the two-handed "clumsy" weapon sounds accurate enough. Thanks!
