| Somerset Sickness10-17-04, 03:25 AM | +5 Composite Longbow of Energy: This composite longbow has the ability to fire magical arrows of energy. On activation, a drawstring of energy appears on the bow. This energy does not harm the possessor of the bow. Pulling on the string causes a magical arrow of pure energy to appear. The arrows cast an orange-yellow light in a 10 ft. radius. The arrows deal 2d8+4 of force damage and has a range of 150 ft. Moderate Evocation; CL 7; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Magic Missile; Market Price 297,600; Cost to create 148,800 gp. This is my interpetation of Ranger's bow from the animated D&D series. It could do alot more, I was just wondering what I could do to make it more like the one in the animated series. Any suggestions... |
| masterofmayhem10-17-04, 05:26 PM | My only suggestion would be to not allow anyone to add strength damage to the damage roll, as the arrows are made of pure energy. EDIT: Just out of curiousity, what is the damage based off of? why is it 2d8+4? Are you giving it the strength of 4 magic missiles? |
| CruelDM10-17-04, 06:35 PM | Except, by the RAW, energy can only be applied to melee weapons (I dont have my DMG in front of me but I think I remember that). Wouldnt a +5 bow add the +5 to the damage modifier also? Aside from the bow what were the other items/weapons in the series? I remember a cloak of invisibility (the rogue), a hat of many things (the wizard), a club of sundering (the barbarian), an extendable pole (the acrobat), and a shield of force (cavalier). Did I miss anything? I realize that these werent the exact items, but based off of memory thats the best comparison I could come up with. Anyhow, aside from having to house rule it, I think you are on the right track. |
