Can a character do a 5ft step in between attacks? For example, the character has 2 attacks. He kills the first goblin with his first attack but is out of reach to hit the second goblin. Can he take his 5ft step and then use his last attack on the goblin?

What do u think? Can it be done in game, as well as in the minis game (in the minis, it says that a full attack means that u cannot move, yet a 5ft step can be used whenever u want during ur round...there is no definative explanation)?

08-31-05, 11:37 AM I don't know about the minis game, but in D&D that's kosher. Here's the SRD quote:

Take 5-Foot Step

You can move 5 feet in any round when you don’t perform any other kind of movement. Taking this 5-foot step never provokes an attack of opportunity. You can’t take more than one 5-foot step in a round, and you can’t take a 5-foot step in the same round when you move any distance.

You can take a 5-foot step before, during, or after your other actions in the round.

You can only take a 5-foot-step if your movement isn’t hampered by difficult terrain or darkness. Any creature with a speed of 5 feet or less can’t take a 5-foot step, since moving even 5 feet requires a move action for such a slow creature.

You may not take a 5-foot step using a form of movement for which you do not have a listed speed.

I've underlined and bolded the appropriate parts.

08-31-05, 12:08 PM D&D minis has no concept at all of the 5' step, so you can't use it in the minis game. In D&D proper, you can 5' step between attacks in a full attack.

SO now its confirmed that in D&D u can do it, but there is nothing that states this in the minis.

In our mini games tho, we use 5ft steps. So (since i guess this is a house minis rule) i guess we would have to discuss this.
