| SilverDragon4204-10-08, 04:19 PM | This may become very funny  ... I am playing an Archer in a campaign and was given an idea to make "spiffy arrows" or "trick arrows". This is where I got the idea to do a post here. I have done some searching online and found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trick_arrows. I will award a :cookie: to my favorite "spiffy arrow" idea out of every 20. Have fun! :) |
| HARLEYDUDE04-10-08, 04:48 PM | +1 Curved Arrow. the arrow is slightly curved so when shot from bow it wobbles in the air reducing the targets dex mod to AC by 2. Water splash Arrow. the arrow tip is actually a pouch of water. when shot at a torch or open flame the pouch bursts and the flame is put out. deals 1 point subdual damage when shot at person or creature. (this idea is from "Theif" video game) HD |
| ToastedAmphibian04-10-08, 05:25 PM | Urine Splash Arrow See: water splash Arrow above. In addition, a creature hit must make a dc 7 fortitude save or be nauseated for one round. Any creature hit by a Urine Splash arrow recieves a -4 circumstance penalty on all charisma checks, diplomacy checks, and intimidate checks. (Bluff is unaffected) Double the range with which the target may be detected using the scent ability. (This idea is based off an idea stoley from harleydude, which he stole from the "Theif" video game) TA |
| tenguroEd04-10-08, 09:18 PM | Shock arrow. The medevil tazer. |
| syrinth04-10-08, 09:44 PM | We all know about the joke healing arrows... But how about resurrection arrows? Shoot a corpse and bring your friend to life from a distance woot! |
| Mad_Jack04-10-08, 11:41 PM | Underwater arrows - specially built with fin-like fletching and a barbed head, allows user to shoot full regular distance when using a special underwater bow. Tracer arrows - enchanted with a faerie fire spell, sheds light like a torch until it hits. On a successful attack, you gain +1 to hit on your next attack against the same target, unless they move more than 10 feet before your attack. Rifled arrows - with a twisted head and spiral fletching to help stabilize it, reduces range penalty by 1 and causes an extra point of damage if target is less than 30 ft. away... Flashbang arrow - has a thunderstone on the tip instead of an arrowhead, stone goes off on successful attack or whenever arrow hits a hard surface when fired. Distraction arrow - has a suggestion spell in it, on a successful ranged touch attack, the target hears a voice yell "Hey, look at that!" and is compelled to look in the direction the arrow was fired, making them flat-footed until their next turn and only able to take a move action on their turn. :D |
| Eldritch_Lord04-10-08, 11:54 PM | Barbed Arrows--The target takes a -4 penalty to Dex until it takes out the arrow (a move action that deals 1d6 damage). Rope Arrows--A rope is attached to the arrow, allowing the archer to make ranged grapple attacks against the target. |
| LimaBeanMage04-11-08, 12:43 AM | Dimensional Arrow: The arrow follows a normal trajectory and teleports in and out on the way. The enemy is considered flat-footed for this attack, but it only works on an enemy once per encounter. |
| LustSwordsinger04-11-08, 03:51 AM | enlarging arrows: these arrows are tipped with giant stone arrowheads that have had a shrinking enchantment cast upon them. upon striking their target, the enchantment dissipates, causing the arrow to return to its original size (and weight) immediately. imagine the fun you could have with that...... muahahahaha |
| Samurai_Zero04-11-08, 04:57 AM | Chicken Arrow: You ran out of arrows so you pick up a random chicken off the ground and shoot it. (-1 to damage, +1 to hit, creatures hit with flying chicken take a -2 to all charisma based skills because of the embarrassment) Fun Arrow: This arrow does only 1 point of nonleathal damage when it hits something, however the moment it hits a target a sheet of parchment pops out the back saying "BANG" Zombie Bolt: This bolt is shot from a ballista, and is just a normal balista bolt with a zombies head attached |
| Fenrir_Greyback04-11-08, 07:57 AM | The "UP Yours!" arrow: This arrow is made thicker and rougher on the shaft than most other arrows. Upon firing it flies past the intended target, making him or her believe that it missed. One round later, it flies back up your foes A$$ causing 8 points of non-leathal damage, and reduces the targets movement by 15ft. Add also an additional -4 to Armor check penalty for discomfort. |
| pigknight04-11-08, 03:55 PM | Badger arrow: a normal arrow with a badger attached that latches on to the target's face. Pig arrow: you fire a pig at the enemy and it fights for you (place a boar in an adjacent square of the target). |
| Jaxgaret04-12-08, 03:37 PM | Volley of Slow (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/slow.htm) + Exhaustion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#exhausted) arrows. |
| supersod04-12-08, 05:18 PM | The Immovable Arrow ok so this is an arrow with an immovable rod within the shaft, when a called shot is made against the stomach and it wounds for more than 5 points of damage it gets lodged in their stomach and they must make a dc 25 strength check to remove it, (i think) which deals 1 d6 damage or every turn it is in |
| pigknight04-12-08, 06:34 PM | The Immovable Arrow ok so this is an arrow with an immovable rod within the shaft, when a called shot is made against the stomach and it wounds for more than 5 points of damage it gets lodged in their stomach and they must make a dc 25 strength check to remove it, (i think) which deals 1 d6 damage or every turn it is in Wouldn't it be unable to be fired? |
| Chaned_Sole04-12-08, 10:26 PM | Python arow, a python rod thats modified to be an arow, must make a sukssful fort save or die and have a python cralw out of you and fight for whoever shot the arow. |
| BugBytes04-12-08, 10:44 PM | The swarm arrow. The arrow is tipped with insect pheremones and when it hits the target it not only does damage but attracts a swarm of insects (archers choice0 to attack the target. Immagine being hit with one of these in a crowded hallway!:D |
| NightFirefly04-14-08, 05:15 PM | The Glados Arrows- These arrows are sold in pairs- one blue and one yellow. After shooting both arrows, two portals appear where each arrow landed. A small or medium character can go through one portal and exist through the other. As a bonus, using the Many Shot feat to shoot both arrows at an opponet, the opponet is sent to an unknown plane that is filled to the brim with cake (not a lie). |

| warforged5109204-15-08, 09:53 PM | Patriot Arrow: a white arrow with patriot arrow on the side. anyone who has this arrow, automatically gets to fire it as a second attack with full BAB. The arrow has a +10 bonus to hit the target, and one a successful hit, the target is treated as if hit by the disintigrate spell. The arrow also gives the one who fired it a +20 on diplomancy or intimidate (attacker's choice) checks against those who saw it in action. Note: the arrow takes two turns to hit the target, mostly due to its awesome arial acrobatics. |
| abraham04-18-08, 04:57 PM | the chicken arrow was used in "hot shots part duex"! |
| BenGregor04-20-08, 11:48 AM | Commanded Rope Arrow: this arrow looks like the Rope Arrows as described by Eldritch_Lord at first glance. However, closer inspection shows that the shaft of the arrow is actually made up of tight coils of magically hardened rope that, on a successful hit, will unravel and wrap themselves around the victim as per the command rope spell. (or at least I think it can do that, it's been a long time since I've played a spell caster) also, I have somewhere the Dragon issue from November 2006 somewhere and it has a long list of really cool arrows and bolts. for example: Splintering Bolt: this bolt is actually a bundle of very sharp twigs that, when fired, breaks apart and hits everything in a 30ft cone. That's not the exact wording but if you guys want I can post some other ones that they had that I remember |
| Samurai_Zero04-20-08, 06:41 PM | the chicken arrow was used in "hot shots part duex"! :cookie: for getting the reference |
| BenGregor04-20-08, 06:47 PM | The Immovable Arrow ok so this is an arrow with an immovable rod within the shaft, when a called shot is made against the stomach and it wounds for more than 5 points of damage it gets lodged in their stomach and they must make a dc 25 strength check to remove it, (i think) which deals 1 d6 damage or every turn it is in Wouldn't it be unable to be fired? not if the button doesn't get pushed until contact with the target |
| Recaiden04-20-08, 07:18 PM | The Hellwasp Arrow: Summons a hellwasp swarm on hit in the target's space. Translocater Arrow: This arrows swaps the position of the archer and the target after it hits. Diving Arrow: If fired above a target, this arrow will stop and turn down to hit them, making them flat-footed Hovering Arrow: When fired, this arrow will circle above the target until the archer chooses for it to strike. The archer does not make the attack roll until then. If more than 1 hovering arrow is over a target, they are treated as flat footed. |
| mathew9904-20-08, 10:47 PM | The normal arrow: this arrow is completely normal in every way, or is it¿ Returning, Exploding arrows: they'll teach you not to miss. Angry, drunken dwarf arrow: Just shoot and run. THE arrow: Yeah, taht's right. |
| BenGregor04-21-08, 10:34 PM | The Immovable Rope Arrow: By combining the wonderful aspects of both the Immovable Arrow (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=15594767&postcount=14) and the Rope Arrow (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=15579939&postcount=7) we create an alternative to the grappling hook! |
| Recaiden04-21-08, 10:58 PM | Smiley Arrow:This arrow, tipped with a smiley, casts emotion on the target:) The Defiant Rake ArrowIf the archer is standing next to someoneand rollls a 9 or less on his attack roll, the arrow stops 5-feet from the target and returns to hit them. |
| celestialkin04-21-08, 11:10 PM | We all know about the joke healing arrows... But how about resurrection arrows? Shoot a corpse and bring your friend to life from a distance woot! No, please enlighten the ignorant. :D The "UP Yours!" arrow: This arrow is made thicker and rougher on the shaft than most other arrows. Rats. You beat me to it! |
| mathew9904-22-08, 10:03 PM | 9/10 arrow: it's 0.9* as useful as the next leading arrow |
| Wheldrake04-23-08, 01:19 AM | The momma done told me arrow: "You could put your brother's eye out with that!" "You bet I could, ma!" Twaaaang! "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!" http://www.xrv.org.uk/photopost/data/500/Harold.jpg |
| Mad_Jack04-24-08, 12:08 AM | The Paladin Arrow- On a critical hit, this overly large arrow lodges itself firmly up the target's posterior and the target's alignment immediately switches to Lawful Good and he gains one level as a paladin. Will only work on characters who are not currently of Lawful Good alignment, but will work on people who aren't Lawful Good but who do have paladin levels. |
