Well, it seems that your system would reduce considerably the need for some weapons. Why need a trident, when you can have a martial one-handed spear?

Oh wait. Your trident deals 1d10 for a medium creature. Why so? Could you explain the idea behind that "new and improved weapon table"?

Tyler Do'Urden: Yeah, I don't have that book yet. Maybe for a self-gifted late X-mass present.

dengarbountyhunter: I increased the Dmg on the trident to make a reason to use the thing. As opposed to a spear. The rational would be; that it has two extra poky parts to give more Dmg.

The main idea was: That to say a shortsword can only do piercing Dmg is beyond lame. A dagger does slashing, or piercing. The longer blade of a shortsword is even better suited for slashing. (Than a dagger.)

There is a reason to use the thing, its a one handed weapon with the same damage as a longsword that can be thrown.

Quite right. However if you apply the changes I have suggested; The spear becomes superior, in that it can be thrown for a base range of 20 feet.

I think you missed something when I said "one handed"

I think you missed the part when his spear became a one-handed martial weapon, like the trident, but with better stats.

Waterhammer: for the most part I like everything, except for a few small things. I wouldn't give the scimitar piercing damage, because I wouldn't think it's optimized for that type of thing. At the least, I'd probably reduce the damage.

Similarly, I'm not sure I like the fact that the longsword, bastard sword, and greatsword all deal the same piercing damage. I'd rule that the piercing damage is one dice lower than the slashing damage (like you've done with the rapier).

I like the shortspear becoming a double weapon. Not something I'd thought of. I've also done the same changes to the spear and siangham. I usually make using the longspear one-handed with exotic proficiency, though.

I also like the increasing unarmed strikes damage. Since I've upped the damage for a medium unarmed strike to 1d4, I'll almost definitely institue this to make unarmed strikes for a fighter halfway decent.

Finally, what you've done with the spiked chain is fine, although I don't personally see the need to do so.

ds: The question is, how much curve does a scimitar have? If only a slight curve; the stabbing ability is not really affected. If the curve is extreme, the piercing effect would be greatly reduced.
Actually on my rework of the scimitar; though the Dmg remains the same the crit potential is cut back.

Also the greatsword crit potential is the same as a shortspear. (x3)
The Dmg for piercing with shortsword, longsword, and bastardsword are all the same because I feel that a shortsword had the ability to pierce clean through a M sized individual. The extra length of the other two swords is waisted in this case.
Hmm? Perhaps a feat to gain more Dmg by twisting the blade on withdrawal.
