| Kaos12107-28-05, 02:13 AM | I was wondering, technically, wouldn't it be possible to give an epic monk multiweapon fighting (or whatever its called :D ) to represent the fact that the monk strikes with both hands, feet, knees, elbows, and head? This would give the monk a ridiculous number of attacks, but it sounds kinda cool... |
| High Octane07-28-05, 02:20 AM | If you add two weapon fighting, a monk gains an extra attack per round at his highest base attack bonus but take a -2 on all attacks (including the extra). They already have that. Its called flurry of blows. The real question is "Can a monk use two weapon fighting in tandem with flurry of blows?" I think this question is answered in the FAQs |
| Kaos12107-28-05, 02:54 AM | My point is, would a monk be able to elect various body parts as natural weapons and multi attack like that epic creature with 100 arms.... |

It has absolutely nothing to do with how many available weapons you have wielded. Otherwise, my two gauntlet, two blade boots, armor spikes, and greatsword wielding Fighter would be just as sick a whirling ball of death. |

The super-uberness of this ruling is already built in, you can't improve upon it. You have an armed attack mode, even if you are disamed, or un-armed. Literally. Some people... NeueRegel |
| Rohano07-28-05, 07:36 AM | I believe it states in the PhB that anything designated as an "Unarmed Attack" isn't just fists, it's also kicks, headbuts, elbow slams, and the like, meaning the 1st level monk isn't standing toe-to-toe with things and slapping them repeatedly, he's actually twirlying around and executing martial moves and stuff. If he is to have specifically seperate attacks for each of his limbs and whatnot, then he has to be some kind of PrC or a race with these natural attacks. |
| adamb0nd07-28-05, 07:56 AM | If you really want to get technical... the monk's entire body is one weapon... so he only has one thing to fight with, not many different weapons. And remember, theres no such thing as stupid questions. Only stupid people. |

I can add to the second part: Remember, there's no such thing as stupid questions. Only stupid people. And munchkins looking for a loophole, cheat, or crackcode. Neue ;) |

NeueRegel I don't even play a freaking monk.... I'm just saying, according to the rules, you're supposed to take large minuses fighting two-"weaponed" without two weapon fighting. But the way the book (or you) describes it as using everything, without incurring anything, which seems a little weird: if you can fight with two fists without penalty, why not two punching daggers? I believe it states in the PhB that anything designated as an "Unarmed Attack" isn't just fists, it's also kicks, headbuts, elbow slams, and the like, meaning the 1st level monk isn't standing toe-to-toe with things and slapping them repeatedly, he's actually twirlying around and executing martial moves and stuff. Right. I'll remind you that 1st level monks don't even have multiple attacks, so the changes they'd be "twirlying around and executing martial moves and stuff". While the PHB states it to be that way, I think the general conception is fists, as proved by the example kensai in Complete Warrior who enchants his "fists". I can add to the second part: Remember, there's no such thing as stupid questions. Only stupid people. And munchkins looking for a loophole, cheat, or crackcode. Again, I don't play a monk, nor am I looking to. Besides, there's no such a thing as a stupid question. Well, aside from this one because I already knew the answer (even if it was legal, no good DM would allow it...). I was pretty much just wondering if any of the more experienced players here knew whether it really was or was not legal. Way to go, a**holes. A prereq of multiweapon fighting is that you have three or more arms. It has absolutely nothing to do with how many available weapons you have wielded. Otherwise, my two gauntlet, two blade boots, armor spikes, and greatsword wielding Fighter would be just as sick a whirling ball of death. In a lot a martial arts movies, the dudes' legs are already practically arms... Maybe with weapons it seems a bit ridiculous, but watch a few kung-fu movies and you'll know that the weird whirling attacks flow together quite nicely. And no, you're fighter would not be "just as sick as a whirling ball of death". Minuses. |

A first level monk gains flurry of blows, giving him two attacks if he pleases. These attacks can be two fists, but in general, as I stated above, a Monks entire body is one weapon, He could throw in some slaps and fingernails if he wanted, a nice pelvic thrust would do fine too. |

A Fighter can't multiweapon fight with two blade boots and two swords any more than the monk can multiweapon fight. Because multiweapon fighting explicitly requires that you have three arms. or more. It isn't a "how many weapons can you concievably wield?" It's a "How many limbs is your brain evolved to coordinate properly?" |

It's a "How many limbs is your brain evolved to coordinate properly?" I don't see what's wrong with learning to coordinate your legs "properly". Technically, your brain "evolved to coordinate properly" one arm, hence a human's natural tendency to favor one hand. But in D&D at least, you can take "ambidexterity" to amend that. Besides, if a monk can master body and mind to the point where he can live forever, I don't see why he can't learn to use his foot as a hand. Besides, none of you have yet rebuked my punching dagger comment. I want to see how that doesn't work (not sarcastic at all). |
| Ranix08-01-05, 01:49 AM | THE FEAT SAYS YOU MUST HAVE THREE ARMS OR MORE TO QUALIFY FOR IT. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THREE ARMS YOU CANNOT TAKE THIS FEAT. STOP BEING A MUNCHKIN. |
