For those of you who have an interest in what weapon to choose for your character i did a little research (prompted on curiosity about how good the sugliin actually is) and came up with some interesting results.

Oddly enough all things being held constant changing the crit multiplyer is half as effective as uping the crit range so if you had to choose between two weapons that were equal in damaga (say a D4 Dagger vs a punch dagger) go for the dagger as it will do more damage overall than a punch dagger. So here is the results after a little work in excel

Falchion
Flail, Heavy
Glaive
Halberd
Scythe

Of course when i put the sulgiin into the sheet i was suprised that damage wise at least per one attack (like all the others) the sulgiin makes it to #1 on the best weapons list pushing the Greatsword down to #2 and dropping greatclub off the list entirely. and its The best two handed exotic weapon on a per attack basis for damage.

Of course this chart only is for damage on a successful hit not factoring in criticals per se. though the criticals were factored in when i analyzed if critical range increase or mutiplyers had more effect on final damage.

Note that i also didn't factor in value of feats to take the weapon which would drop several weapons down.

*edit* had a cell not update giving me a wrong value

On a little scale of one to ten using Only the PHB and the Frostburn book you get the top ten as

10= Sugliin
9= GreatSword
8= Falchion
8= Greataxe
7= Flail, Heavy
6= Glaive
6= Halberd
6= Scythe
6= Guisarme
6= Ranseur

with the numbers being thier ratings.

Sigh greatsword is still the best overall though. Grr

Your math is off then. Increasing the threat range by one and increasing the critical multiplier by one affect average damage identically as long as you only increase one of them. I can post a mathematical proof if you'd like.

Once you get up to about +20-25 bonus damage (that gets multiplied on a crit), the weapons with lower base damage but higher crits, such as Scythes and Falchions, surpass the Greatsword.

Personally, I think requiring 20-25 bonus damage for alternative weapons to be viable is a bit ridiculous. Incidentally, allowing Improved Critical and Keen to stack reduces the required amount of damage to about 15, which seems much more reasonable to me.
