1) Whats the point of the hand crossbow? (Why not just use a sling?)

2) Can I reload a crossbow\sling while i am holding a shield?

3) This dose not really belong, but: What happened to Rapid Reload: Sling?

1) Whats the point of the hand crossbow? (Why not just use a sling?)It's a piercing weapon, which allows you to deliver some poisons. You can also fire two at once (one time only) if you have to. Also, after seeing #3, you can use it when you get more than 1 attack per round with Rapid Reload.
2) Can I reload a crossbow\sling while I am holding a shield? If it is a buckler or small shield, but IMO you won't get the AC bonus if you do (that's probably gonna start a debate).
3) This dose not really belong, but: What happened to Rapid Reload: Sling? They nixed it. I guess slings were overpowered with more than one attack per roun.

Among other things, there's a definate role-playing aspect. A similar question might be "Why would anyone want to use a heavy mace when they could use a morningstar?" A morningstar is cheaper, lighter and does bludgeoning and piercing damage.

The answer is that many people see their PC using a heavy mace instead of a morningstar. Simarily, many people see their PC using a hand crossbow over a sling.

2) Can I reload a crossbow\sling while i am holding a shield?

According to the SRD, you can still use your shield hand for other things (like loading a crossbow), so long as you're using a shield smaller than a heavy shield.

3) This dose not really belong, but: What happened to Rapid Reload: Sling?

Dunno. If you want it, you might just add the sling to the list of weapons the feat can be applied to.

A morningstar is cheaper, lighter and does bludgeoning and piercing damage. And is sundered more easily. Personally, I like maces way more.

Hand crossbows should be simple as well. Roleplaying is no excuse for broken mechanics.

Personally, I like that some weapons are Exotic just because they are exotic (or unusual) weapons, even if they aren't mechanically superior. But then I hate Monks as a standardized class too. ;)

I agree wholeheartedly. If a weapon is mechanically simple to use, it should be a Simple weapon. A hand crossbow isn't any harder to use than a light crossbow. Ergo, it should be a Simple weapon.

Rarity shouldn't be an issue.

Exotic should mean weird/hard to use. Double weapons, over-heavy weapons (like the bastard sword, for one-handers, and things like the Greatspear from CW for two-handers), et cetera.

As someone who usually plays a character with strength as my dump stat I can tell you that the hand crossbow damage isn't effected by strength; a sling is. :twocents:

So you're saying that alomst all of the monk weapons should be simple weapons, since a kama isn't any more difficult to use than a sickle?

Kama means sickle. It's not a matter of difficulty; they're the same thing. They shouldn't be listed seperately in the first place.

Numchucks are not as easy to use as, say, a dagger.

Sai would be balanced as simple weapons, and they're just pronged pieces of metal. No reason for them to be exotic.

And what in the nine hells is a siangham?

A better solution might be to loosen the flurry restrictions. IMC, monks can flurry with any light or double weapon. They have to take the proficiency feat anyway, and it removes a lot of the special-casing. Another feat allows them to use one-handed weapons.
