| Flay Crimsonwind06-11-05, 02:55 AM | I'm trying to make a sword for a devil character of mine. He summons it from hell eventually, and it resembles a fancy version of Sanosuke's zanbato (which i've read the thread for) from Rurouni Kenshin. Anyone unfamiliar with RuroKen might also think of it as Cloud's Buster Sword from Final Fantasy. It requires a talisman of the original devil to wield it (no other abilities), and may be paired with the Glove Of Goliath and equiped with an item called the Heart of Chernabog. They look(for now) a little somethin' like this: ---Goliath (name of blade): 3d8 (18-20/x3) (magic) *Large* Fullblade +3, 60 lbs. --may be used as a tower shield and as a weapon in the same round --wielder gets -1 to hit for every point of strength below 25. --10 ft reach. --Must be wielded with two hands. *medium sized characters obviously need monkey grip feat to use.* ---Glove of Goliath: (It's a single glove only ever) Gauntlet +1 --raises strength by +6 --provides "cleave" feat when wielded with Goliath. --provides proficiency with fullblade. ---Heart of Chernabog: -- 2/day Explosion Technique (add 6d6 to damage roll) when equiped to Goliath. --Chaotic. Any non-chaotic character possessing the Heart of Chernabog gains one negative level. Although this level doesn't resut in actual level loss, it is in the character's posessionand cannot be overcome in any way (including restoration) --2/day cone of fire. --1/day wall of fire. I know these are overpowered a bit. Any help balancing them is much appreciated. Unnecessary criticism will be ignored, but helpful criticism is appreciated. Thanks!! |

| kuhTHOOloo06-11-05, 11:06 AM | Eh...isn't it supposed to be 2d8 19-20/x2? What kind of devil, what size are you? |
| Flay Crimsonwind06-12-05, 12:39 AM | Wel, I'm medium, but my sword is large. Thus the strength penalty to wielding. |
| Flay Crimsonwind06-12-05, 01:07 AM | I'm a human that was a devil. Now I'm gettin' my stuff back whilst traveling with my group. It's a ridiculously large sword, and thus (though not mentioned, sorry 'bout that) needs the monkey grip feat for a medium character to use. I'll mark it as a large fullblade. Increased the crit because it's a sword that if it were actually used in reality would usually cleave a man in two with one or two strikes. Of course, you couldn't really use it, but that's the point of DnD :D I'll make a change to the size and require the monkey grip, k? |
| Flay Crimsonwind06-12-05, 01:11 AM | Anything else? |
| Manyfist06-12-05, 01:12 AM | Full blades are Huge, not large. Its a Hand and Half for a Large Character. Huge, 2d8, 19-20x2, 23lbs, Just make it 2d6 for Large I do belive. :D |
| Flay Crimsonwind06-12-05, 01:16 AM | Fullblades themselves are huge in proportion to other weapons, right? But couldn't there (and isn't there) a large version? Just wondering. |
| Manyfist06-12-05, 01:17 AM | Fullblades themselves are huge in proportion to other weapons, right? But couldn't there (and isn't there) a large version? Just wondering. According to Crystalkeep, they're huge. Just lower the Damage to 2d6. :D |
| Flay Crimsonwind06-12-05, 01:19 AM | Oh, and what book are they from? |
| Manyfist06-12-05, 01:27 AM | Sword and Fist, and Arms and equipment should have them. |
| Flay Crimsonwind06-12-05, 01:33 AM | Thanks!! I'm gonna send it to my DM for "can I use this" judging. |
