07-19-05, 09:24 AM How many attacks can a dragon make in one round?
Is it 3 as in Claw/Claw/Bite or 5 or 6 as in Claw/Claw/Bite/Wing/Wing/Tail Slap?

Also a Tail Slap does 1.5 times strength damage like a two handed weapon. Does a power attack with this get treated as such? In other words does the dragon take say a -5 to its attack and get a +10?

07-19-05, 09:28 AM I'm pretty sure teh attack routine for a full attack is claw/claw/bite/wing/wing/tail.

And I would rule against having the tail doing damage as a two handed weapon when power attack is concerned, I'd rule it like a natural weapon.

07-19-05, 10:30 AM It depends on the size of the dragon. See the table "Dragon Space/Reach, Attacks, and Damage" in the SRD. For example, a Tiny dragon has 1 Bite and 2 Claw attacks, but a Colossal dragon has 1 Bite, 2 Claws, 2 Wings, 1 Tail Slap, 1 Crush and 1 Tail Sweep attacks. Of course, like any other creature, a dragon can only make more than one attack action per round if it uses the full attack action.

And as Count Arioch says, there is no rule allowing a dragon to use its tail two-handed for Power Attack, despite the tail's 1.5x Str bonus on damage. If you feel like making your dragons more dangerous, there are better ways than inventing new rules like this. It's a bad precedent: you don't want your Druid PC using 2x Power Attack with similar natural weapons.

I gree it is very bad. I just didn't want to sell it short.

07-19-05, 10:47 AM You are allowed to power Attack 1:2 for some natural attacks.

The fact that Tail slap does 1.5 x strength is a strong indicator that you can do so for it.

Like Kjenks said, it depends on the size.

A Large dragon gets bite, claw, claw, wing, wing, tail slap

A tin y or small dragon gets bite claw claw.

just want to point out that the crush and tail sweep attacks are full round actions ... so the dragon only gets one attack that round (either crush or tail sweep) ... otherwise 6 attacks isn't so bad now, is it?

[edit: 3.5 wording change ... crush and tail sweep are standard actions ]
