A Gnomish wand-hopper? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-14-07, 02:16 PM I have a player who brought up the idea of a Gnomish wand-hopper, basically something resembling a gatling gun with wands. I want to design something that is useful but not unbalancing.

I was thinking of an item that would allow two wands of the same kind to be activated in the same round, but would then take a standard action to "reload." So you would get the double effect up front but it would ultimately take the same amount of time.

Could be a useful item, but still not really capturing the gatling gun ideal.

Anyone have any recommendations for designing this item? Or have you seen anything like this in any of the books?

06-14-07, 02:23 PM In the Complete Mage there's a Rod of Many Wands that does what you are looking for. Though it will go through wands like crap through a goose.

Double wand wielder I think.

Full round action, one charge from 'main hand wand', two charges from 'off hand wand', both go off.
