Hey guys, a couple of days ago I started writing a VB program during my spare time at work that helps you put together magical weapons, armor, and shields.

It's not all that special, it simply lets you click here and there to add on the various abilities that you want, pick how high of an enhancement bonus it has, whether it's made out of special materials or not, and then click again to have it give you the total price of the item.

Is anybody even going to care about this thing?

Let me know what you think about the idea and whether or not you'd be interrested. If the general public says it sounds like a waste of time, I'll go ahead and abandon the idea for something better.

Also, what kind of programs would you people like to see out there?

It is done already in a few places (redblade comes to mind). However, it doesn't really matter. Some people would use it, and it has its place in the DND gamer world.

Well, I know that I have no problems doing the minor math for weapons and armor in such in my head, but I also know that many of the younger guys I play with have a much harder time with it. This program would really help them, I think.

And I'm always open to new and innovative ways of being lazy, so thumbs up. :D

While some people have actually gotten used to doing the math in their minds, I don't quite think this program is without a target group! Good luck, and I would really like to see your final work; I might even be able to give you some assistance, if you like. ;)

I'm pretty close to having it completed, so it shouldn't be too much longer before I can email it out to those who want it. I don't have access to a server to host it just yet, but I'm working on it.

What about ideas for other programs, guys? Is there anything you can think of that you wish you had a program for, but don't? Or anything that's already out there that you wish did something a little different, or did a few more things than it does?

if it is possible to use enhancements from many different books in the program I think it would be a great thing to have

This is something I'll be doing, but I'll put out the Core version as soon as I'm done with it to give people and idea of what the program can do. Then I'll start on all the other things. It's not going to be all that hard to update (I think), but it'll take some time. Particularly since I'm only going to be able to add in the ones that I have access to. And, I'm not sure that I can add in the things from other books (Completes, Eberron, and so forth) without contacting WotC to get permission. If I can, I will. If not *shrug*.
