If a creature has Damage Resistance 5/slashing what would happen if the opponent hits with a +1 mace? I thought that magical enhancements over-rode the DR bypass requirement, but I've not been able to find anything that specifically says so. And if this is the would the same hold true for cold iron as well? Thank you for your help with this. |

Now, a +1 mace deals 1d6+1+str-5 (assuming it's not used as an off-hand weapon, else replace 'str' with '1/2 str'). Only slashing weapons (and spells, energy damage, etc.) bypass this type of DR. And cold iron is only useful for bypassing DR #/cold iron. Kang |

Whatever word is after the #/ is what you need to bypass it. Sometimes you'll see 5/slashing AND cold iron, so you'll need to meet both of those to beat DR. If it reads 5/slashing OR cold iron, you'll need one or the other. Now, if it the DR is 5/-, then there is no possible physical attack that can get around this. Any physical attack will be affected by the DR. |
