I was just posting on a thread by ElMucho.

He mentioned an 'Ammulet of Gender Changing'.
...Sounds good for a DM to make a bit of a lighthearted prank on a curious player... or for someone annoyed by their player's looks due to well... you get the idea.

Now I kind of want to put this item to use in my campaign....anyone have any ideas for

1)charges
2)rarity
3)where to get them at
4)permanent or temporary effects
5)costs

Any help is appreciated greatly.

:D THANKS!:D

Any help is appreciated greatly. One of the possible drawbacks (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/cursedItems.htm#drawback) for cursed items (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/cursedItems.htm) is "Character’s gender changes"

Also, earlier editions of D&D had a cursed item called a Girdle of Femininity/Masculinity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girdle_of_Femininity/Masculinity) (basically a belt of gender swapping).

Gygax (rip) loved these sorts of tricks, and it was used to humorous effect in several strips of The Order of the Stick (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0009.html)

There wasn't a miniature's handbook for 1E. Miniature's handbook is for 3E.

Eh... doesn't really have any mechanical power, but it uses transmutation magic on par with alter self. I'd say 3,000 gp. CL 3rd. Requires alter self as a spell prerequisite. Is active as long as it's on. If you put it on or take it off, you take one round (six seconds) to transform into the opposite or original sex, respectively. No effect on sexless or hermaphroditic beings.

heh, we had a good time with this item before back when we started playing 3rd ed. A guy who was new to D&D was playing with us. We found the girdle/belt, and he immediately thought it was a belt of giant's strength, and was like "HOLY CRAP!" and put it on. We didnt identify it or anything. Needless to say, he became a woman. He stayed that way for several months. He hated it. Eventually he was like (out of character) "How the heck can i get this thing off??" (it was cursed, of course) and i (the cleric) was like "get a remove curse spell cast on you. I can do that. Ive been able to do it for like 3 levels now". Needless to say he was upset and asked "why didnt you tell me?!" of course my answer was "you didnt ask". He identifies EVERYTHING now. :P

Sorry for the slight derailment, just a funny story i thought i'd share. These items can make great fun as cursed items :P
