In my campaign I am introducing special ammunition for guns. They are bullets that can store magic like a wand (up to level 4 spells but I'm thinking of lowering it to level 3). The caster would cast the spell into the bullet and if they fire it, the bullet releases the spell where it impacts. The spell will degrade over the course of the day by losing 1 dice of damage or 1 save DC etc. every 1 or 2 or 3 hours (I haven't decided yet). I am just wondering how much those bullets should cost. I'm thinking that they should cost around 500 to 1000 gold maybe...but I really have no idea. Thanks in advance.

Kind of like a Caster gun?

[Edit: Have you considered looking at potions for costs?]

Yes, I took from a bunch of sources. The DMG, FFT, and Outlaw Star. I think that they should cost more than a scroll but less than a potion. How does 30 x spell level x max caster level sound? Oh yeah, the bullets are different now. There are 10 different bullets, one for every spell level and I ended up dividing by 24 to determine the degradation time. The max caster level is the maximum CL that the bullet can hold. It starts at CL1 for 0 level spells and goes up by two per level.

a bullet of spell storing +1 (which is like the item you described except for the degradation) would come out to (8300/50) 166 gp for each one, regardless of what was cast into it, but you'd have to buy them 50 bullets at a time. IF some strange bullet merchant exists, or if there is a wide market for these items in your world, so that they are often manufactured, i would make the bullet cost 170(material cost rounded up) plus the actually PHB price for one casting of the desired spell (10 x spell level x caster level). Thus a 7th level cleric making +1 bullet of inflict serious wounds would charge 390 gp a piece.
You could up the material cost by saying that since spell storing and ammo don't really go together, the item costs 50% extra (thus raising the example bullet to 585 gp) or else you could say that these particular bullets must be constructed of cold iron for the enchantment to work, but in the end that only raises the cost per bullet to 210 gp (plus 2 times whatever you charge for regular steel bullets in your game) before enchantment costs. It doesn't quite reach your desired price range, especially if the PCs decide to save money and just put the spells in the bullets themselves
