In the PH is says that if you have a BAB of +1 or higher you can draw a weapon or weapon like object as a part of a standard move. It gives an example of a wand but what else counts as a weapon like object. what about a flask of acid or alchamist fire attached to your belt- they are weapons after all. What about a torch or a easy to reach healing potion, but maybe thats taking it too far.

Personally it seems that it could be limited to any item that has been specifically designated by the player beforhand to be in easy reach. That sounds reasonable for my own game but does anyone know the official word?

It applies to weapons on the basis that they are designed for it (eg. swords typically carried in sheaths) and that its something that the user would have practised regularly, thus ditto for a spell caster drawing their wand.

So I think you have to meet those two criteria to get you DM to agree, the item has to be carried in a way that allows quick access, the the 'drawing' maneoveur has to be something that your character has spent time practising on a regular basis.

Even if your DM agress, they might impose risks:

- small potion bottles in some bandoleer style holder, high risk of geting lost or damaged. If you sintch them in tight then you can't quick draw. Same goes for bottle stoppers. (and its still a full round action to drink it).

i would say that a weapon like object could include things in easy reach, such as potions, because one would normally put such things in easy reack.

I would say (and this is strictly Ad HOC mind you) that you can consider any weapon a weapon-like object if you could wield it as a weapon. If you can wield a chair leg (which you can with a -4 penalty) you can draw it as a weapon. If you can wield a chair, (for Medium or larger characters), then you can draw it as a weapon. If you could wield a table (for large or larger characters) then you can draw it as a weapon.

Of course, other factors apply (being out of reach, being strapped or held down, not able to see the weapon-like-object), and those require DM discretion, those factors would apply to any weapon that you tried to use.

So in other words, we all disagree, and you are on your own.
