| RavenCorvus02-09-07, 08:20 PM | If you lose a point of constitution damage how much health do you lose. |
| keith18702-09-07, 08:23 PM | It depends on if your CON bonus changes. If you go from 15 con to 14 then nothing happens, but if you go from say 16 to 15 you lose 1 HP per HD, and also have -1 to your fort save. |
| Nezkrul02-10-07, 01:29 AM | If you lose a point of constitution damage how much health do you lose. actually, if we take exactly what you wrote; either nothing happens OR you actually gain 1hp per HD. |
| RavenCorvus02-10-07, 01:49 AM | how would you gain 1Hp per HD for losing constitution |
| Vegepygmy02-10-07, 02:26 AM | That's not what you wrote. You wrote "lose a point of constitution damage." If I have a Con 13, 2 points of Con damage will lower my Con to 11. If I lose a point of Con damage, my Con will only be lowered to 12. :tie: |
| RavenCorvus02-10-07, 02:46 AM | i still keep forgetting to add the constitution bonus part, so say you had a bonus of +3 and it lowers to a +2 so how much heath would you lose. would it just drop by 1 for every HD you have. |
| runestar02-10-07, 04:20 AM | Yes. |
| itwasntme02-10-07, 04:43 AM | Lets say you have 16 con and you lost 6 con from Posin (rolled a Nat 1 and it was max right?) Your con is now 10 16 is a +3 Ability score mod so you lose 3 hop Per level/HD you have The Problem with useing Posin/Other things to do Ability damage/Drain is that it Requires a Fort Save Most melee types are good agest it having a Con of 16 gives you a +3 save agest it level 4 melee person (Fighter lets say) Has a +4 Save agest it by class meaning he has +7 to save agest it If the DC of it is 15 he needs to roll a 8 or higher to save agest it pretty good chance of saving vs it However a Spell caster would more likly find this much harder to deal with same Con score level 4 character he gets +4 to his save its about 50% Chance of him failing his check the fighter had a 35% Chance of failing his 50% Is useoly considerd a Good Chance to hit/be hit So something like this would be Deverstating agest Spell casters If you can get em that is a good party of Melee people later on should be protecting there Caster while the Caster is killing the people |
| Nom02-10-07, 04:56 AM | Unpack the hit point rules slightly. Effectively, your hit points are your hit die rolls plus number of HD * Con modifier. Example: using the "average" rules, a 5th level fighter would have 10 (1st) + 4 * 5.5 (2nd to 5th) = 32 from rolls. If he also had 14 Con, he'd have a total of 32 + 5 * +2 = 42 hit points, fully healed. If your Con changes, you recalculate that second factor and modify your fully healed hit points accordingly. Whatever change you make to your fully healed total, you also need to make to your current total. Thus every time your Con modifier drops by 1 you lose your character level in hit points. There is one exception: your fully healed total can never be less than 1 per hit die (level). A 5th level wizard with 1 Con (-5) has 5 hit points when fully healed. You don't figure this per roll, you just figure it based on the total. |
| Tyler Do'Urden02-10-07, 09:14 AM | would it just drop by 1 for every HD you have.Yeah, to a minimum of 1 hit point per hit die. Tracking hit point damage and Con damage is one of the few situations where it's beneficial to count damage up. You adjust your max hit points based on your current Con score and compare your damage total to it. |
| Teydyn02-10-07, 11:45 AM | Yeah, to a minimum of 1 hit point per hit die. That rule is only in effect when you level up, right? You are a lvl 3 wizard with 10 con, rolling a 1 for your hp on level up, you have 6 hp. If you loose 1 constitution, your modifier drops by 1 also -> 1 hp per level is lost, even if you rolled only a 1 on your hp on level up. Correct? |
| Tyler Do'Urden02-10-07, 02:10 PM | That rule is only in effect when you level up, right? No. Con damage alone cannot reduce you to less than 1 hit point per hit die. If you had a 3rd-level wizard with a 10 Con and a total of 6 hit points, and he takes 6 points of Con damage, he only loses 3 hit points. Of course, if Con damage reduces your Con score to 0, you're just outright dead, but that's different. |
| strenoth02-10-07, 03:49 PM | to be exact, constitution reduces you to a minimum of 1HP/HD at FULL HP, you still retain any damage you've taken otherwise. Example: Level 20 wizard gets hit for 10 damage, and the attack includes enough poison to then reduce his HP total down to the minimum (20 for his level). That wizard would be at 10 HP out of 20, so no amount of cure spells would give him more than 20 current HP until the his constitution was restored. |
| tiluvias9902-10-07, 08:32 PM | The Problem with useing Posin/Other things to do Ability damage/Drain is that it Requires a Fort SaveUntrue. Note the Shadow's strength damaging attack, which only requires a touch attack and does not allow a save. Also note the two links in my sig about Shadows. |
| xTimx02-11-07, 12:33 AM | well if you want to lose HP along with your con dmg. you could just divide your HP into your con score and get that many hp's per con score #. for example: if i had 70hp and a con score of 17. i would divide 70 from 17 and get a number of roughly 4-5. so if you lost 3 points of con, you just lost 12-15hps :) (just an idea) |
| RavenCorvus02-11-07, 01:18 AM | well its not so much that i want to lose heath with my constitution just think you would since you use it to figure out your health |
| xTimx02-11-07, 12:03 PM | well if you think about it...if your losing con. then your losing health...thats why you die when your con reaches 0 . |
