08-27-06, 04:49 PM Is it possible for my Sorcerer friend's Familiar, a small earth elemental, to attack from below an enemy? The mechanics of Earth Glide aren't too clear to me, and I don't know if it's possible.

But if it is, Hell yes, that's awesome.

08-27-06, 05:08 PM Yes, it would work much like Incorporeal creatures attacking while being partially inside of an object to grant them cover. However, unless it has Spring Attack (which I doubt), it would at best get Cover while attacking. Basically, it can move through the earth as easily as other creatures walk on top of it.

Yes, it can do that, but unless it has Spring ATtack, it isn't really worth it.

Elementals can't see through stone so anyone he attacks from the ground would have full ocncealment against the attack.

It is silly that they have eyes at all, considering they are supposed to come from the elemental plane of earth and live in the earth, and yet have NO capacity at all to see through earth/stone/etc.

They don't even get tremorsense.

I consider it to be a major error on WoTC's part, but those are the rules.

Elementals can't see through stone so anyone he attacks from the ground would have full ocncealment against the attack.If it was only halfway in the ground it would get cover, and would suffer no attack penalties itself.

If it was totally in the ground, it would get total cover, but the enemy would have total concealment vs. the elemental, and the elemental would have to guess which square to strike at.

I agree that they definitely should have tremorsense, though. Stupid oversight.
