| ChaoticAwsome04-09-07, 03:28 PM | um... i was wondering... does anybody know the true statistics and traits of the dnd katana? i think it is one handed martial weapon, 1d10 damage, 19-20x2, slashing, 3 pounds, 50gp does this sound right? i want to use one in our campaign, but my DM wants FAIR traits. Any input would be very helpful.:) |
| narukagami04-09-07, 03:33 PM | Its in the DMG. |
| Spikes01k04-09-07, 03:34 PM | Its a masterwork bastard sword. Check the complete warrior under samurai. |
| ChaoticAwsome04-09-07, 03:35 PM | i dont have the complete warrior:weep: i have never seen the katana in my 3.5 dmg:confused: |
| Sorrac04-09-07, 03:37 PM | I dont have a DMG with me right now, but somewherer in the DMG you'll find a page long chart describing oriental weapons, gunpowered guns and future weapons. Probably in the world development section. Good luck! |
| ChaoticAwsome04-09-07, 03:38 PM | i wont be getting my dmg back for another two weeks...:weep: but i know what page you are talking about please help... |
| narukagami04-09-07, 03:39 PM | Masterwork Bastard Sword. Thats it. No more, should be less. (Always masterwork?... bull) |
| antsterr04-09-07, 03:43 PM | The DMG suggests that it's a masteworked bastard sword. 1d10, 19-20 x2, exotic weapon, martial if used two handed. Basically the same as a long sword but with higher damage. Some people believe that because it has a curved blade it should instead be: 1d8, 18-20 x2, exotic weapon, martial if used two handed. Basically the same as a scimitar but with higher damage. Some people (including the DMG) suggest it should always be a masterworked weapon making it cost 335GP rather than just 35GP, giving it +1 to hit. |
| ChaoticAwsome04-09-07, 03:44 PM | so it costs 635gp, 1d10, 19-20x2, and weighs 6 pounds, slashing and can it be weilded two handed as a martial weapon? this still doesent seem right... shouldnt it weigh less? |
| ChaoticAwsome04-09-07, 03:45 PM | k thanks alot!!!! :dancin: :dancin: :dancin: |
| narukagami04-09-07, 03:46 PM | so it costs 635gp, 1d10, 19-20x2, and weighs 6 pounds, slashing and can it be weilded two handed as a martial weapon? this still doesent seem right... shouldnt it weigh less? Thats 335gp, and yes, two handed as a martial weapon. And technically almost everything in the weapon and armor tables should weigh less, but "weight" became less actual weight and more of some kind of "encumbrance factor". Also, unless you want to open a can of worms I'd just accept what was given and escape while you still can.;) |

| Shadowmind6404-09-07, 04:08 PM | 3d8 12-20 x 6 on a crit and it ignores all hardness and lets the user fly at will. sorry guys... couldnt resist. |
| ChaoticAwsome04-09-07, 04:14 PM | sounds good to me! :dancin: |
| antsterr04-09-07, 04:45 PM | 3d8 12-20 x 6 on a crit and it ignores all hardness and lets the user fly at will. Probably you should get the mighty cleave enchantment for free as well as bane _anything_.:P I wonder if the weight doesn't (or should) include the scabard for said weapon? from what I understand (no expert here) the weights in the PHB are higher than most weapons really would be. |

And this is why katana threads get locked, joking or not. As to whether the weapon weight includes the scabbard/method of securing or transporting the weapon, that's been debated before. There's really no clear answer, other than what the DM feels like. |
| Aggrenox04-09-07, 06:30 PM | Also, Bacon. |
| Thoom04-09-07, 06:47 PM | How far can you get the crit range down on a Katana? |
| Watchman04-09-07, 06:50 PM | However low 19-20 base (or 18-20, if you're using the "scimitarized" houserule version) now goes. |
