ChaoticAwsome 04-09-07, 04:23 PM	lets say i have a longspear (10 foot reach) and i attack an orc from ten feet away, on his turn he moves 5 feet towards me so he can attack with his non reach weapon. would i get an attack of opportunity when he moves five feat towards me because i have a reach weapon? Also, if i do get an AoO, and it succeeds, does he still stay ten feet away from me? and if it dosent succeed, will he stay 10 feet away from me still, or will he still move up 5 feet and attack?:confused: :confused: :confused: please help:)
Einvaldurinn_mikli 04-09-07, 04:25 PM	You do not get an AoO on the five foot stepping Orc. If he charged you from afar though, you'd get to smack him. Your AoO has no effect on his movement.(Unless you trip him)

draconic_swine 04-09-07, 05:08 PM	If, however, the orc started more than 15 feet away from you and moved to 5 feet away from you, he would provoke an attack of opportunity when moved from 10 feet away to 5 feet away, because he left a square that you threatened. Whether or not the attack of opportunity successfully hits, the orc's movement doesn't get impeded (short of you dropping it into negative hitpoints).
antsterr 04-09-07, 05:35 PM	In other words, a 5 foot step is a way to move without provoking an attack of opportunity. Normal movement would provoke an attack of opportunity.
