| heavenisme03-11-08, 01:45 PM | Hello there AC question: Can I have 2 rings of protection? Natural armor + Amulet of natural stack? |
| Orenmir03-11-08, 01:54 PM | Can I have 2 rings of protection? Of course you can. You can have 100 of them, if you want. You just have to find them, or buy them. Natural armor + Amulet of natural stack? Can't help you there. I don't know what an Amulet of Natural is. What book is it from? |
| Khazzan03-11-08, 01:56 PM | To the first question: if you mean "can I wear 2 Rings of Protection and will they stack to improve my AC?", then I think the answer is no. "Deflection bonuses stack with all other bonuses to AC except other deflection bonuses. A deflection bonus applies against touch attacks." (here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm#deflectionBonus)) To the second question: if you mean "does Natural Armor bonus and an Amulet of Natural Armor stack?" then the answer is also no. "Natural armor bonuses stack with all other bonuses to Armor Class (even with armor bonuses) except other natural armor bonuses."(here (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm#naturalArmorBonus)) Hope that helps! |
| Orenmir03-11-08, 01:56 PM | I'm sorry for being so sarcastic. But really, did you do a search for "stacking" before posting? |
| Slimgauge03-11-08, 02:01 PM | Rings of Protection (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rings.htm#protection) provide a deflection bonus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm#deflectionBonus) to AC. Deflection bonuses do not stack, they overlap. Amulets of natural armor (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#amuletofNaturalArmor) provide an enhancement bonus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm#enhancementBonus) to a creature's natural armor bonus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/theBasics.htm#naturalArmorBonus), so the natural armor bonus (even if it is zero) is increased by the amount of the enhancement, but multiple enhancements to the same (natural armor) bonus overlap. |
| Eerongal03-11-08, 02:13 PM | yes, the natural armor WOULD stack. It increases your existing natural armor bonus (if it doesnt say you have one, then you have 0), akin to gauntlets of ogre power increasing your existing strength. Multiple items that increase natural armor, however, would not help you. |
| StevenO03-11-08, 02:16 PM | Ring of Protection (Deflection) + Ring of Protection (Deflection) doesn't work. Natural Armor + Amulet of Natural Armor (Enhancement to NA) DO stack as the amulet improves the "natural" Natural Armor. |
| groveborn03-11-08, 06:18 PM | Page 25 of the DMG shows what and how things stack. To sum it up, two bonuses of the same type never stack, except with circumstance or dodge bonuses. Those two never stack when from the same source (spell). Armor provides an Armor Bonus to AC Shields prove a Shield Bonus to AC Ring of Protection provides a Deflection Bonus to AC Amulet of Natural Armor provides an Enhancement to Natural Armor (read more about this below) Dexterity provides Dodge Bonuses to AC (items almost never do), as does the dodge feat Certain circumstances (I can't think of any right now) provide Circumstance Bonuses to AC Some spells and items provide Luck Bonuses to AC Some spells and items, or feats, provide Moral Bonuses to AC So on. For an amulet of natural armor, all creatures are considered to have at least a 0 nat ac. Some have more. The amulet stacks (enhances) with a creature's natural bonus to Natural Armor. This does not further stack with barkskin, and other such spells. Feats that improve Natural AC do not help creatures that do not already posses a base Nat AC. |
