| RavenCorvus02-12-07, 02:48 AM | what does acid damage actually do to weapons and armor. |
| Moribund02-12-07, 08:49 AM | Corrodes them? Could you be more specific about what you want to know? |
| Novacat02-12-07, 09:32 AM | Acid and sonic attacks deal damage to most objects just as they do to creatures; roll damage and apply it normally after a successful hit. Each object has hardness—a number that represents how well it resists damage. Whenever an object takes damage, subtract its hardness from the damage. Only damage in excess of its hardness is deducted from the object’s hit points. Find out what the hardness and HP are on the armor in question, and you have your answer. |
| tarkin02-12-07, 12:05 PM | Some damage types are reduce to a fraction of normal before being applied to objects. This does NOT happen with acid. It is straight forward. If I do 25 points of acid, then the weapon: 1) applies any acid resistance it might have (unlikely, but theoretically possible if say the weapon was a spiked Shield with Acid Resistance) 2) applies any Hardness it might have (which should definitely exist for a weapon) 3) Takes the rest as straight hitpoints. |

On a supplimental note, acid and sonic work the same way with objects; the damage is not halved/quartered as is most other types of damage. |
| RavenCorvus02-12-07, 03:03 PM | well how exactly do you figure out the weapons hit points then, and when items get a save do they use your saves or do they automatically have one my dm makes it kinda confusing on that topic |
