You CAN target a square with splash weapons, but in that case, no targets take a direct hit.
Splash weapons are a special case of thrown weapons, and do not benefit from strength bonus to damage.

Can you crit with them (I suppose this would only be applicable if you're targeting an actual creature, not a square)?

12-01-07, 01:05 AM Yep. You can score a critical hit on any attack that requires an attack roll and deals damage. Since they have no critical modifier listed it's x2 damage on a critical, and they threaten a critical on a roll of a natural 20 only(baring some intervening circumstance).

I agree. An example would be if your character threw Alchemist's Fire and hit the target squarely in the face.
