Adamantine or Silver Natural attack? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-14-05, 09:17 AM Are there any possibilities to upgrade an animals Natural Attack to, for example, adamantine or silver?
I am thinking along the lines of "gloves" with spikes of the appropriate material, attached to animal paws. As far as I know there are no magical effects that can grant clawattacks or bites these properties.

Another question in the same context: can you apply Silversheen to claws?

Also, any dentist worth his salt can metal plate teeth. Presumably you could do it in DnD. With hooved animals, all you need do is shoe them with the right metal. Claws could be tricky, they continually grow, so metal plating would be problematic.

Don't know about the silversheen. Leniant GMs migh allow it, but strict one's will likely say no. Read the description carefully and related glossary entries and you'll have a basis for rules lawyering one way or the other. I'm not going to bother :P

08-14-05, 12:20 PM There is a gauntlet in one of the books that causes all weapons that you wield to be treated as silver for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. And most natural weapons are usually considered to be "wielded weapons." I forget what book it is in, though. It might be the Draconomicon. I at least know that it is not in any of the Complete books.

Also, if you are trying to get past golem damage reduction, try a scarab of golembane (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#scarabGolembane).

That's a long ways off, though. Also, not all people consider unarmed strikes to be equivalent to natural weapons for that purpose (and especially other monk purposes).

08-14-05, 05:35 PM There's an item in the new Dragon called "Claw Extenders" that adds +1 damage to a claw attack, and more importantly, counts a weapon that can be enchanted and made from whatever material you want.
