| Satile01-23-08, 03:52 PM | Pretty much the title. I want to put constitution and other stat damaging effects to ammunition (shuriken, etc.). I'm making him a Ranger/Tempest (Master Thrower, maybe?), so he gets 4-5 throws in a round. I figure if at least two of them hit for -10 constitution, in two rounds I could drop some pretty tough guys. If you guys could be so very kind to point out the book where I could find this (I think it's the DMG, though) and how I actually go about doing it (It's been awhile, but I think I remember the DMG being confusing). Also any tips about what I'm planning on doing are obviously welcome. Thanks, guys and gals. Much appreciated! :D |

| Vharuck01-23-08, 05:43 PM | just poison them This is the best method. While ninja in the real world have always been so mystical that it's hard to have a rational discussion on their tactics and weapons, shuriken are believed to be used for either distracting or poisoning the opponent. If you want a magical effect that doesn't allow a saving throw, there's the Wounding special ability from the DMG. However, your thoughts of 10 Con damage are pretty wild, since this ability only deals 1 Con damage (not multiplied on a critical hit) and is priced as a +2 bonus. That and shuriken are treated as ammunition, so half of them break after being thrown. Not wise to enchant. |
| Rulebook01-23-08, 05:51 PM | i dunno, if i had some SERIOUS funding, i'd make a monk/master thrower with LOTS of wounding shuriken. chuck 10+ a round and that gets painful. but yeah... just get con poison if thats what you want to do. though smart folks use Cha, or int poison, since those are usually low stats. |

I think it would be reasonable to homebrew some sort of enchanted shuriken case. Much like a magical bow that bestows its enhancement to the arrows it flies, the case would do the same for any shuriken it carries. The mechanics are the same; I can't think of any reason why it couldn't be allowed. |

| Tedronai01-24-08, 09:21 AM | *sigh* ammunition always breaks if it hits it has a 50% chance to break if it misses |
