how much would it cost to add the haste ability, like full plate of speed, to an armor?

Would you want a permanent Haste spell, that is continuous , or something like Boots of Speed that works up to 10 round/day?

If you want the permanent Haste ability then, as I can figure from the DMG, it should cost 120,000gp. Here's the formula that I used; I think it's right:

Spell Level (3rd) x Caster Level (5th) x 2,000gp x 4 (since the duration of Haste is measured in rounds) = 120,000gp

If you want simply the Boots of Speed property added then I'd say it would cost 18,000gp; 12,000gp for the original item + 50% = 18,000gp...Much cheaper than the continuous version!

There is, also, on page 220 of the 3.5 DMG, a Mithral Full Plate of Speed, though it functions like the Boots of Speed. FYI.

Hope this helps! :D

thank you for your reply here and on the str gloves question. basically, i am wanting to use fullplate of speed, but i am restricting myself to heavy armor due to heavy armor optimization, and since mithral full plate is by most respects medium armor, i wanted to make an adamantine version of the fullplate of speed.

Yer welcome, my friend. Glad to be able to help.

Funny thing is that I didn't even realize that you posted both this AND the Gloves of Strength threads.

Cool.

actually, how much would it cost to add the 10 rounds / day to boots of striding and springing.

I'm thinking that it would cost that same 18,000gp to add the Speed quality to Boots of Springing and Striding. I'm not sure if the +10 movement from the boots would stack with the haste effect, though I don't see why not.

An idea, though, would be to add the Springing and Striding effect to the Boots of Speed. You would then add 8,250gp (5,500gp + 50%) to the 12,000gp Boots of Speed. Here's a head-to-head breakdown:

Boots of Springing and Striding (5,500gp) + added Boots of Speed (extra 18,000gp)= 23,500gp.

Boots of Speed (12,000gp) + added Boots of Springing and Striding (extra 8,250gp)= 20,250gp.

That, of course, is if you add that 50% to each added ability to a pre-existing item. If not then just add the costs of both pairs of boots together to get the price.

what do you mean by that last statement?

and actually the 10' increase from springing and striding does not work with the boots of speed since both increases are labled as enhancement bonuses.
