| foxtail07-21-07, 11:25 PM | Table 7-33 in the DMG (Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values) lists the Base Price Adjustment for an item with "no space limitation" as x2, "uncustomary space limitation" as x1.5, and "multiple different abilities" as the higher item's cost x2. If I were to design a magic weapon that - in addition to its enhancement bonus - granted its wielder the effect of another magic item (for example, a ring of jumping), which modifier(s) would apply to its base price? |
| Dire_Rhino07-22-07, 12:13 AM | I'd price it as "no space limitation", but that's because I could otherwise see a rather large rule abuse where a person 'wields' multiple weapons somehow, thus increasing their number of 'weapon slots'. Girallon's Blessing or something like it... |
| Gnarl07-22-07, 04:19 AM | The armor enchantments that grant a competence bonus to skill checks use “the uncustomary space limitation”. I think weapons that grant these kinds of bonus should be the same. Concerning the abuses Dire_Rhino is talking about, you get the same problem with rings and by the time your PCs have enough money to stack up multiple abilities on a single item, they already have craft rings. |
| Merestil Haye07-22-07, 07:51 AM | Just one nitpick.Table 7-33 in the DMG (Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values) lists "multiple different abilities" as the higher item's cost x2.The table in the DMG is wrong. See the sidebar on "Magic Item GP values" and the errata to the DMG. You do not increase the cost of the highest priced power, you increase the cost of all powers except the highest priced one. And the surcharge is +50%, not +100%. |
