Adding New Powers to existing items [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-05-07, 12:01 AM On page 288 of the DMG, it states that the price to add a new power to an existing wonderous item, is 1.5x times the cost of the new power. (i.e: Making your Boots of ElvenKind into Boots of Levitating Elvenkind, would cost 1.5x the price of making a new pair of Boots of Levitation).

Question: Does that apply only to material costs? Does it apply to XP costs as well?

03-05-07, 06:24 AM Thanks, another question say I wanted to add a third power, Make those Boots into Boots of Levitating, Speed, ElvenKind.. Would the price for the third enchantment also be 1.5 or would it be something higher?

03-05-07, 07:28 AM It is really all up to the DM, but if you really just want to go by the book then it would still be x1.5
