Hi . There's a situation concerning attack of opportunity that's been bugging me for quite some time. I know it looks silly but I've not been able to find the ruling in any books so far. Here it his.

Let's say I paly an archer and I don't have the quick draw feat. In a dungeon room, I come across an orc. I win the initiative so I decide to shoot at him. I hit but the orc survive anyway. On his action, he move toward me and attack. I've got to make an attack of opportunity since the orc is entering a space I threaten but with what weapon can I make it. Do I use my bow as a melee weapon, do I have to make an unarmed attck(and thus provoking myself an attack of opportunity)? I'm really don't know what's the answer, so please if someone can help me I'll really appreciate it. :)

You don't threaten with a ranged weapon, so no attack of opportunity.

You can hit him with your bow, for almost no damage, at a -4 penalty for using a non-melee weapon in melee, possibly provoking an attack of opportunity yourself, I forget.

Most sensible thing to do is take a 5 foot step back and shoot him again, or drop your bow as a free action, draw a melee weapon as a move action (can be part of a move action if you have base attack 1+) and hit him with that.

If on his action he moves toward you and attacks, he doesn't draw an attack of opportunity anyway. You don't draw an attack of opportunity for entering a threatened square, only for leaving one. And even if he did, you don't threaten with a bow so you couldn't take an attack of opportunity even if he drew one.
