We tried picking it up, and had to pass a will save not to wear it. The guy who did, had it fused to his skull for -1 Con, +1 Int. Other than that, unknown. We removed it with a Remove Curse scroll (Our only one). The drained Con remained. It eats through any bag we put it in, so we must either wear it or leave it there. The Avatar reformed after some minutes. It might be it's his focus of sorts. I'm a Wizard/Priest, so +1 to INT is great: It'll give me 20 INT. Wear it or not? |

| CantripN06-27-06, 08:43 AM | You know, I would. I'd destroy it. But I'm just checking if anyone will tell me to wear it. |
| towerwrath06-27-06, 08:48 AM | It depends on your alingment. If good no because Illithids tend to be evil, if evil yes, and if neutral why not can't hurt.......much. |

| Pliskit06-27-06, 08:52 AM | It also depends how chaotic you are :D If you don't know any of the other side-effects you'd have to be PRETTY willing to gamble if you're going to wear an Illithid artifact... The -1 to con was only within the FIRST 5 minutes right? There just might be more drainage where that came from ;) Furthermore it could be broadcasting your every thought to the Illithid hive-mind for example, and the fun just doesn't end there. |
| Azezel06-27-06, 09:35 AM | Have you tried Mage Hand, Telekenisis, Unseen Servent, Tenser's Floating Disk, Summoned Constructs/Undead or any other sort of magical transport option. Anything which is mindless should be able to carry the crown safely. |

All we have is a Bag of Holding (Type II), and I'm afraid it'll eat through it. :( |

Your character can only decide with her wits and friends, not some externals that surely one of them would come up with some bright idea (in this case, Azezel, despite his odd choice of a screen name). |

I have a question, and I might sound like a dunce, but what happens if you PASS your Will save? I don't know for sure, of course, but I'm thinking that if you pass your Will save then you would have some measure of dominance over the Crown, and probably be able to carry it. Hopefully that's the case. As for the RP standpoint, as to whether or not to wear the Crown or not, we can't really tell you that. You have to do as others have suggested and think about your character and his/her tendancies and whatnot. You should also think of the facts. You know about the Int bonus and Con drain, you know that once you put it on it's a pain in the butt to take it off, and you know that it was worn by a Mind Flayer Avatar. You'll have to base your answer on these things. For example: my lawful good Dwarven fighter would probably shun this thing, and not even want it anywhere NEAR him, but my friend's true neutral human wizard/archmage JUST MIGHT put this thing on, seeing as he's bent on being the most powerful mage he can be. It's all just a matter of perspective. In any event, have fun with this. Who knows what will happen, you know? This thing could do whatever, including possibly turning you into an Illithid or something. Could be fun, no? |
