Sup Guys.

I need a few tips here, I am currently playing a Fighter (1 dip level) Paladin specialized on divine feats for both offense and defense (although my feat selection will turn me into a defensive bastion). I am currently going for those: Shield Specialization, Shield Ward, Divine Shield and Divine Vigor. I am deciding if I will take Sacred Vengeance or Divine Might as damage dealers. Since I do not intend to receive damage often, I will try Divine Might.

My real doubt, as a defensive sword (in my case, Axe) and board is wich enchantments should I place into my weapon. I know, since it is and Axe, that energy burst is a must, also keen can help to deliver crits. But this is too basic and will only improve crit damage nicely. Do you have any suggestions for enchants that improve normal damage in a "safe" way? (By safe I mean, no backfire).

Also, I have another scenario where I play a Melee Kensai wielding a Longsword. In wich improvements should I invest to get more damage?

I will thank you in advance. Hail.

Bastion Press Arms & Armor
Axiomatic(p37): An axiomatic weapon is lawfully aligned and infused with the power of law. It makes the weapon law-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against all of chaotic alignment.

Forceful(p46): The forceful enchantment can be applied to any weapon, and causes the weapon’s standard damage die to be increased by one type. ( there are 3 enhancements +1, +2 & +3)

Consider scrapping energy burst. Instead, save up for an animated shield, wield your weapon 2-handed, concentrate solely on boosting its enhancement bonus and use power attack to improve your damage output when need be.

If you want damage, you could consider a mounted charging build. Get extra smite, spirited charge and wield a lance. DMG has rules for nabbing a dragon mount, IIRC.

Check out the collision weapon ability from complete psionic, its a +2 enchantment cost that gives a flat +5 damage (and since it's not extra damage dice it should multiply with crits too, but don't expect your DM to allow it). However, if your DM doesn't approve of the critting, just add regular elemental enchantments as they come in 1d6 damage for a +1 enchantment cost a piece.
I neither of these suit you, use a wounding weapon. Damaging a foes constitution with no save effectively takes off hp equal to their HD with every two hits in addition to the damage you already do.

If there are only a couple of encounters per day, take Law devotion from Complete Champion, instead of Divine Might.
And forget about energy burst weapon, it's cost-ineffective, especially with axes.
I'd rather use Holy weapon.

And you obviously need a 2h weapon and power attack.
Leap Attack and Shock Trooper, too. But i guess you are pretty short on feats.
