| Khalarak Ironclaw04-25-07, 04:00 PM | I've made a CR 15 Huge Fire Giant to fight my players in tonight's game, and I'm buying equipment for him, since he's 'Elite'. I gave him Monkey Grip, so he's wielding a Gargantuan greatsword, and I wanted to make it adamantine, just to make it that much scarier. However, the DMG is silent on how to price weapons of that size that are made of special materials. It makes sense to me that that much more adamantine would be more costly to procure than that required to make a Medium greatsword, but I don't know exactly how much to increase the price by...100% per size category increase? 50%? Any advice would be hot. |

If so, i'd say following the rules for special material weapons as well would be fair. If I'm right it was something like 20% per size category.. but just check your core books. |

Officially large sized weapons cost twice the amount of a Medium sized weapon. I would say this concept works for both base weapon and for material cost. The only question is do you use d20 multiplication or not? I.E. Is it: Normal multiplication: Medium sized Adamantine Greatsword x1: 3,050 Large sized x2= 6,100 Huge sized x2x2=x4= 12,200 Gargantauan sized x2x2x2=x8= 24,400 gp Collossal sized x2x2x2x2=x16= 48,800 gp Or D20 Multiplication: Medium sized x1= 3,050 Large sized x2 = 6,100 Huge sized x2x2=x3= 9,150 Gargantuan sized x2x2x2=x4= 12,200 Collossal sized x2x2x2x2=x5= 15,250 ----------- From looking at the prices, I would say D20 Multiplication seems more reasonable to me. |
