I want to make sure I am understanding the Aid Another action correctly. It would appear from the description below that the aid given is only good for one attack and it has to be the next one....so if a creature has claw/claw/bite I can only aid AC by +2 vs the first claw?

What if I wanted to aid on the bite attack, would I have to ready an action to Aid just before the bite?

This seems to be an exception to the common practice of things carrying thru the round i.e. power attack, combat reflexes, fighting defensively...all last the entire round and even on attacks of opportunity.

From the SRD

AID ANOTHER
In melee combat, you can help a friend attack or defend by distracting or interfering with an opponent. If you’re in position to make a melee attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend in melee combat, you can attempt to aid your friend as a standard action. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent’s next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack.

I'm pretty sure you have it right. I never really thought about aiding another using a readied action before. I guess if you had an ally facing off against an opponent fighting with a normal weapon in one hand and a poisoned dagger in the off-hand you could ready an aid another action to activate when the opponent attacks with his off-hand. Thereby bypassing his first primary hand attack.

Yes, you have it right. Aid another works only for one attack, but you can ready an action to increase a certain attack, if your DM allows it (some DMs are more strict than others with readie actions, and might rule that there is not enough time aid in between the claw and bite attacks).

Your other option would be to aid another as normal, and simply have your friend use his bite attack first. Natural attacks can be taken in any order, after all.

If your are Aiding your friend to get the +2 AC it lasts for the entire round and all the atacks directed at your friend in that round after you Aided him or made your check.

No it doesn't. It still only applies to the next, single attack directed at him from the opponent you designated.
