| TrackStar08-07-06, 02:42 AM | How does this work in combat? How many people can I have aid one PC? Where do they have to stand? What do they have to do to aid AC; attack? Can I summon abunch of animals to aid me to stack bonuses? Whats the deal? I want to know its limits and its uses! I read whats in the PhB, but it isn't descriptive enough. Thanks in advance! |

If you’re in position to make a melee attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend in melee combat, you can attempt to aid your friend as a standard action. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent’s next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack. You can also use this standard action to help a friend in other ways, such as when he is affected by a spell, or to assist another character’s skill check. Basically: Aid Another is a standard action. Aid Another requires you to threaten (in melee) an enemy who threatens your friend (or vice versa, in melee). You make an attack roll against AC 10. Success means either the opponent gets +2 on their next attack roll against that opponent, or a +2 bonus to AC against the opponent's next attack. This only works if said attack (either your ally's or your enemy's) comes before your next turn. Bonuses help. There are other ways to use Aid Another, but they're not really covered here; most of these would be Skill Checks, I presume. You can have as many people aiding you as you'd like, but you need to apply the benefit before their turns come up again. |

| MystErikEry08-07-06, 04:24 AM | I couldn't figure that one out, myself. |
| Loki565408-07-06, 05:53 AM | Thanks, how would I aid a friend who is affected by a spell? What does it mean by that?Let us assume that your Fighter friend is affect by some sort of charm spell that allows multiple Will saves to break. Using a standard action, you could speak to him in a calm, clear voice, reminding him that you are his friend , that his actions are harmful, and that he is under some sinister influence. Then you make a DC 10 Will save. If you succeed, your fighter friend would receive a +2 on his next attempt to break the enchantment. The same could be said about pushing your friend out of the way while making a Reflex save or sucking out venom as he makes a Fortitude save. At least, that's the way I see it. |
| TrackStar08-07-06, 01:21 PM | Interesting. There aren't many spells that have multiple saves... there are poisons like that though... Anyone else have anything to add to this? |
